Video: Dirt Sculpting Artist or Trail Builder in 'A Rideable Piece of Art'
@WhateverBikes: Well... we actually met a non-mountain biker while we were filming, she was out enjoying the forest. She's in the film. I'll quote for you incase you missed it - "What a work of art, it's amazing. No, like no joke, that's absolutely stunning."
This trail is sustainable. If a natural or 'beautiful trail' receive more than the odd rider down it no and again it doesn't stay beautiful very long. Ruts start forming, puddles appear and soon someone goes off and cuts a fresh 'natural' line in and the process starts again, and again. Where this trail differs is that it is built with longevity in mind. That is how it works with natural.

Video: Dirt Sculpting Artist or Trail Builder in 'A Rideable Piece of Art'
I think you may have missed Greg's point. Greg’s trails are far from a bobsled run; they are multiple-line trails that allow the rider to interpret them however they wish - as illustrated in the first scene.
I believe riding and trails have diversified a lot over the past few years. Yes, riding difficult, technical trails and overcoming the challenges they present is why we all love riding, but that shouldn’t mean we can’t enjoy trails in different ways. 'Effortless' is how Greg describes it, and in some ways, it is. You can ride top to bottom without pedaling or braking; the trail provides options for further creativity with multiple options, but this isn’t effortless for everyone. Greg is a very good rider, and for riders of his level, this trail allows for ‘effortless’ expression. But for riders who aren’t there yet, it provides a facility for progression and challenges riders to find new ways to ride the trail.
Greg is a seasoned trail builder and understands the importance of working with nature. Greg spent his weekend off going back over where the machine had been turning grass and moss back over to ensure the roots would take hold again and start growing back in. The trail was built following natural openings in the trees to avoid felling many trees and follows the natural flow of the hillside to ensure good drainage.
