I would first like to say that I knew Sam....not incredibly well, but well enough to know that he was extremely special. He was someone you held a soft spot for. I would also like to say that it takes a community to make a tragedy like this happen....and with the "relaxed" vibe here in the Kootenays surrounding pot, and the lure for young people to make part or all of their living based on this industry is somewhat a "given" around here. It is sad that we have become so complacent about this industry.....and don't get me wrong, I have no beefs with pot, and really think that the whole world would be better off if we just decriminalized it all together. It is relatively "normal" for a young person such as Sam to get involved in these sorts of activities....and it is very sad that it had to come to this..... we should all take a hard look at what it is we are creating around here.....nobody should ever have to feel so desperate to have to do something like this.....we have truly lost someone who was...... and would have had the potential to be "great" in this world..........it's a crying shame.
