@KUBBY: I tried some of specialized’s latest models that claim to be wider, but they were still very narrow in the forefoot.
Once you wear barefoot style shoes for a while it just becomes torture to wear shoes that compress your metatarsals

@majorjake: true I have some lakes that are properly wide. Lakes are incredibly expensive though and are limited to online ordering with pretty slow shipping & bad returns/exchange policy. It would just be nice for some more options
