Doing Science: We Measured the Vibration Damping of 8 Handlebars
35mm bars are dumb! I don't remember all the details but back in the day it was widely rumored Aaron Gwin turned down a contract offer because the bar sponsor of the other team wanted him to run a really stiff OS bar.
I spent a lot of time with an old motocross pro who always swore those guys couldn't hit the same lines with super stiff bars as the 'softer' bars. His bars were several orders of magnitude more flexible than anything I've ever seen on any mountain bike. I can't really speak to the specifics because dirt-bikes aren't my world, but that always stuck with me.
Pretty happy with the 31.8 Renthal carbons on all of my bikes!!
