@englertracing: You have to take into account anti-rise as well. With the high pivot the rear wheel braking forces will counteract the pitching forward to some extent or even cause the rear end to squat for anti rise over 100%
If you were to brake only with the front, then yes it would get shorter

Norco Optic gen 2 Cascade Link

Link has 383 miles on it and all bearings are original and still feel smooth.
My optic was replaced under warranty with a gen 3 so I don't have a bike for this anymore.
Link increases travel by a few mm and makes small bump sensitivity and bottom out resistance much better vs stock. Also has more clearance so it is less likely to trap rocks than the stock link.
Requires ~20% more pressure than the stock link, so if you're already towards the high end of allowed pressure that could be an issue.
Small scuff on the inside of the link shown in picture 3, no other scratches
