The older I get, I really don't slow down, I just wear more padding.

Spank's Foam Filled Rim Promises Better Reliability and Feel - Crankworx Whistler 2017
Let Gwin take them down a track with no tire. That should do it.

Manon Carpenter Retires from DH Racing
@Fix-the-Spade: That makes sense, - I thought that carbon stuff was BS.

Manon Carpenter Retires from DH Racing
There's a time in many athlete's careers (and you don't have to be a pro) - when you realize, it's not there for you any longer. You lose interest, nerve, mindset - whatever. It happens. At any pro level, - it's 100% or you'll never get to the top. If the fear of injury was beginning to creep in - very easy in DH - you'll never get up there. She, went with what she knew was the truth in her and stepped away while she still was able to in one piece. Woman's racing just got a big hole in it. As for Ratboy - if there was any truth to that global carbon footprint stuff - well he's jetting around the world more now than when he was a DH racer.

The Best One Yet: WynTV EWS - Crankworx Whistler 2017
@slimboyjim: I think that the tracks at WC level - newcomers or anyone not near that level realize those tracks are not like everywhere else and there are plenty other stuff suited to them. Too much so. Also, If you ride a DH bike run after run, weekend after weekend, you want to know it can take the pounding and you ride it with a different attitude. I wouldn't want to do that to my trail bike (Capra) although it would survive a few, but run after run, weekends here and there - it would eventually rattle apart. Plus with the DH bike, you can hit shit you couldn't get away with on a trail bike. I'm constantly bottoming out my 8" Boxxer so I can tell you a my Capra's 6" Pike would be dying.

@snl1200: Yes while that's certainly all true on the progression of the trail bikes capabilities, the same can be said for the DH bikes - certainly they are more capable than trail bikes on terrain suited for them. We just need to get them on that terrain. This is why I believe bike parks and the likes of Gravity Logic just making steroid BMX tracks are killing the DH bike/scene.

What I don't get is why not televise it live right after the women's podium? It's not like Redbull packed up and left and is coming back in an hours time. Everyone is there in place and still getting paid whether or not it's televised. Just flip the switch damn it! The men are running and you're killing us!

Agreed - Those twelve seconds could very well have been made up by a rolling tire and not having to fight it.
