oh ya i can tell it made a huge difference in chatter... video is so smooth especially the slow-motion... did you at least practice some putting if you were carrying that thing around anyway?
is this the same setup you used in your "enjoy life" video?

wouldn't you want the putter part (heavy) where you hold it though? the weight would then be counteracting the weight of the go pro on the other end. this could then act to smooth out the image because the two weights would counteract because of the leverage so it could be held in place with less effort similar to the weight on the end of the tonearm of a record player. or you could just find a friend to film you...
also, i believe ballast is an incorrect term here, i think counterweight is more accurate.
