Oct 15th Sam Pinner and myself organized a work party in Post Canyon on its newest trail 'Bad Motor Scooter' (named by Alex Ely). Oddly this week is BMS's ONE YEAR OLD BIRTHDAY and it got some serious love from 35 attendees. From local Radio Personalties, Familys, Avid Locals and a couple legendary local builders all arrived with a serious 'Can-do' attitude. Lucky for me,
Corbin Crimmins arrived with his camera blazing shots the entire time an was able to record the days efforts.
(Recently Corbin was noticed for his amazing poem or haiku on the most recent 'Movies for Monday') Workers arrived eager to help and make a major improvement on Post Canyons youngest most important link for big travel bikes but loves all bikes called 'Bad Motor Scooter'

Trail Steward and Lead on today's overall trail improvment was Sam Pinner, here he is most likely making a joke at my expense.
Gotta love a good fresh mound of dirt if your wearing these fur sweaters.
The Scooter runs down this nice patch of tress, to the left is the old '8Track' trail that was logged, so riders raced down the road to Lower GP to avoid pedalling and we all know cars-bikes don't mix. HR County Land Manager told Sam and I, 'this is easily a 40 year trail, we can't log this!' That would make any trailbuilder smile!
From 9am to 2pm, 35 volunteers hammered out changes to 'BMS' and I was fortunate at the end of the day to ride down it. My mind was blown since all I ride is a dual crown DH bike 99% of the time and prefer to ride a flowy trail. Well, they IMPROVED it bigtime. Sam Pinner and myself spent a week prior prepping the trail and flagging out new lines, bigger corners and we improved Pucker Corner, taming it, I called it "Scardy Cat Kat" corner to Sam over a text upon exiting onto the road.To all the workers that improved, donated your time and noticeably improved the trail on Oct 15th- THANK YOU!
These photos were shot with my camera phone, yeah. Ew.
While picking up the donated pizza, Johnny of Double Mountain hooked me up with a 'Vaporizer' while I was double parked in downtown Hood River- just asking for a ticket!
Pizza's were greeted by the hungry mob who stayed for the post work party treats and raffle
The big ticket raffle winners scored a custom trail axe from Gerber and a Yakima rack, Thank you Oregon Super D!
Hermosa Tours provided a FREE shuttle to everyone who worked and it was an added bonus to the day as I did not tell anyone about it- but going forward- all organized work parties will have a shuttle for woorking on the trails 855-MTB-POST for more shuttle-group rides to explore before snow shuts it down. Clock is ticking. tick tock, tick tock.
Here's your reward for volunteering- your bike handed to you at the very top! Thank you Hermosa Tours owner Ryan Goodwin for this added surprise!
Huge thanks to
Dakine,
Double Mountain Brewry, Devon Lyons of the
Oregon Super D Series for the raffle items and ordering up that Pizza for the post work party chow down and
