After two stellar rounds of racing, the NW Cup heads South to the foothills of Mt. Hood at Skibowl Bike Park. Given the news as of late, let's hope it's not an "explosive" weekend in the Hood.

They've been excavating snow for weeks to make sure you get to rip down the classic tracks, and some new stuff. The Cat 3 track is all new up top with a ribbon of fresh singletrack that will send you into Gnar Gnar with a smile. There's also a newly revamped skills park at the bottom to kill time between runs. Cannonball is more pimped than ever, and the crew at Skibowl are psyched for the opening weekend to be all about bikes.

Check out the current standings here Big thanks to Roots and Rain for helping crunch numbers this year. It's an awesome site to look back through the years of the NW Cup and virtually every other race.

Big thanks to all our sponsors again. They have been going off this year keeping the raffles stacked and helping in a bunch of other ways.

Special thanks as well to the guys at Transition Bike Company for facilitating our pre-ride vids. I guess it was a little wet last weekend so peek through the splatter. Might want to hook up with Dialed MTB for a fender if things are like this.

Cat 2 usually has run through the woods in the past. The course they show after fire hydrant used to be an optional/easier alternative. Curious if the woods will still be an option this year.

@Bennyd4u: I really hope so, that section of the track was my favorite part of the course.

@CaptainBLT: they probably won't because they are running cat 1/ pro down some of that trail.

@Gvus2001: I mean, half of the track is shared already so I don't see why that would make a huge difference.

@Gvus2001: the cat 1/pro course hits the woods right after cannonball. The cat 2 has gone into gnar gnar and reconnected in the woods about halfway down where the cat 1/pro course runs. In the past this has been the case anyways.

After watching the 30s of berm blasting video... I think I might be able to get behind some buff berms on the lower section of the course even though it means skipping the woods section.
