This is clearly meant to be a proving ground to attract outside sponsors. A really smart approach given the way the sport is shaping up and what Warner Bros ambition seems to be. If these guys got picked up by some Motorsport, data, or telecommunications company and could then afford a top 10 rider it could pay off.

Good point. I wonder if there is enough seat tube there to just cut the gusset off and shorten it. It looks like he doesn’t even have an angle set or offset bushings in the thing either.

@LM-CZ: Good point! In that case, a tiny battery to run the shifting could come in handy. Then... a slippery slope with regulations for racing.

Is the battery removable at all? This seems like a privateer downhill racers dream. Get weekday laps in on the same bike you race on. Pull the battery, Swap the wheel set and seatpost for race days, made easier by being electronic so less fussing with gear adjustment and dropper cables.
