Think of the diaz runt as a much more tunable volume spacer - where a simple block of plastic reduces your air spring volume and hence increases the rate at which your (air) spring rate rises, the runt (being tunably compressible) does not cause the spring rate to rise as steeply.
So yes, in a more tunable way (similar to the 2nd air spring in Manitou, EXT & Ohlins and maybe some others I'm not familiar with)

But how do the local council find the money? Funding is a massive problem and public money is not unlimited. It’s sad to see Tweedlove and others going out of business, somehow the sport needs to pay for itself.
