I've ran several sets of the old version , really like them for local relatively well drained loamy trails with plenty of roots. Better than DHF/ DHR combo in my experience and had a few Maxxis just start wobbling and had to bin them anyway.

The Chase is largely little more than a tree plantation. Old trails get destroyed but they are replanting with more diverse tree species so in 10 years or so those areas should be a bit less uniform with less disease and trail building continues, with improved rebuilt trails. The land managers are keen to continue most rides starting and ending at Birches Valley, which is why they developed the blue with ALOT of commonwealth games money, largely well spent in my opinion and some sections left open to ride in an unofficial but safe state. User conflict culminating in the RRP owner injury has been going on for decades unfortunately, but has come to a head with one prominent local figure keeping a much lower profile. I'm sure there are moves planned to reduce bike access away from BV, but the recent Brocton Coppice issues were definitely started by inappropriate MTB trail building during Covid, which I hope won't be repeated as the unofficial stuff is largely tolerated and left alone until harvest time.
