Bird Aether 9C ML Trail Bike

$1300 GBP
Hi thanks for looking. For Sale is my much loved Bird Aether 9C, genuine reason for sale given to many bikes and less local riding sadly. This bike is in size Medium Large - please check out their website for exact sizing for reference I am 177cm and it fits me perfectly. I cant tell you how much fun this bike is and how ridicoulsy capbale it is, id go as far as saying its more than capable to tackle most enduro tracks - Its been down a fair few black runs at Bike Park Wales with ease! Ill be sad to see it go but with my other bikes and a need for funds i would rather it gets ridden. I probably havent ridden it more than 12 times since building it up! and its been sat in my garage since June last year! I bought the frame direct from Bird - its an imperfect paint frame - for clarity the paint isnt imperfect in the sense its bad it just wasnt want Bird wanted from factory - so its more Matt black than gloss - which personally looks amazing - feel free to check this out with Bird - they have great customer service. I swapped most the parts from my previous Bird Zero 29 - so aside from the frame, wheels and brakes everything else is 2 years old. I have fully serviced the bike and theres nothing to hide, its run really well. I will chuck in plenty of extras if the full asking price is paid which you could easily sell on again. There are tiny tiny scuffs and wears - all from normal riding but they are barely noticeable - i never got round to applying Invsiframe I will probably chuck on other sites as i would appreciate a quick sale! Happy to drop off within 30miles from RG28, or near Swinley Forest. Full details: Frame: Bird Aether 9C - ML Shock - RockShox Deluxe Ultimate RCT Forks: Rock Shox Pikes - 140mm travel (retuned by TF tuned - i have paperwork) Wheels: Hunt Enduro - Have also got Hunt XC wheelset with XD driver - will happily give away if full price paid - i used them if doing more XC loops or bridleways Tyres: Maxis - DHF/DHR - Plenty of life left Brakes - New Hope Tech 4 - E4s - 2 rides - will come with bleed kit and spares if full asking price paid Drive train: Sram mix of X01 cassett, chain, rear mech, shifter, cranks are GX, Superstar components oval chainring Handlebars: Nukeproof Carbon Fibre Stem: Race Face Seatpost: KS dropper (i think 150mm cant actually remember) very lightweight Pedals: Nukeproof

Racing Rumours 2024 Part 1: Danny Hart Off Cube, Vali to YT, the End of GT Factory Racing, Kintner Off Norco, & More
@donimo: Owning a company that does sponsor teams in a different sport, most of the time its about coverage, and opportunuity for entertainment/influence if your own company has no association with the industry its supporting. XC racing provides a far better opportunity for business in this regard with the racers doing laps so theres greater coverage, compared DH and Enduro with a couple of minutes with fast flashing imagery not to mention spectators having to walk up and down a mountain to watch it live. In road racing, unless its time trials you have groups of riders all in the same livery which is fantastic promotion for a brand/business. Its easy to keep our mountain bike heads on and think that what we perceive as the pinicale of our sport with DH racing and to some extent enduro, that companies would love to get involved. Sure theres some crazy companies that would love the association but perhaps the cost would be to damaging to the culture/ethos of our high adrenaline sport - imagine if the all the bike pits became like formula 1 or MotoGP, where you need silly money to walk around, venues having to up security, client entertainment areas etc etc. At the moment even the heavily backed teams like Santa Cruz and Commencal still run out of lorries parked up on the side of a mountain and usually have the whole team helping with the set up! And theres nothing wrong with that. Theres got to be a happy medium to keep racing going

Video: Anneke Beerten's Course Preview for the 2024 Paris Olympics XCO Test Event
Need to remember changes will be made and it has a year to naturalise a little although that requires the track to be open to all which I hope they allow. I think it's a good course to promote cycling via regeneration of landfill. I just don't think XC should be in the Olympics full stop. Unless Olympics are held in locations suitable this sort of course is always going to happen.

Review: 2023 Orbea Oiz M-Pro - Don't Call it Downcountry
I never know if its exchanges rates of general trade costs but Canyon offered way better value for money when they did their Lux Trail for UK customers than Orbea. Its not quite the same, but i have a similar spec with carbon wheels all be it only 100mm travel for £3800

Tech Briefing: Wheels, Enduro Bikes, Frame Protection & More - May 2020
Its a little marketing, a little simple physics with additional inertia and bike weight but also a level of insurance/warranty issues that come into play. Power has nothing to do with it. The force an ebike puts through the wheels from pedalling doesnt require specialist rims. Im a similar weight to you and always prioritise getting stronger wheels. If i had a heavier bike by choice, then I would make sure its matched with suitable wheels. Forgot the riders weight for a minute in your example of bike weights thats an additional 8kg spread between the wheels when hitting the ground on objects. Lastly all companies will try to de risk any product sold to the market so if you had non specific wheels and they failed causing a signifcant accident where your actions did not create an environment in which you were already at risk then it would be a pita for all in involved and you could forget any warranty.
