The Bikes and Gear of the 6-Day Enduro Gauntlet - Trans Madeira 2026
Cool to see a familiar face from last year. A little gutted I didn't make it back in time after my shoulder surgery.

Video: How to Fix Hand Pain & Grip Issues with Vorsprung Suspension
@VorsprungSuspension: completely agree Steve.
I will tell anyone who will listen that your stuff makes good forks great. My friend brought you on at his tuning shop after feeling the luft kap improve my 36 off the top.
But in general I think we reach for a product to buy over improving ourselves.
The equipment every mountain bike needs is access to a barbell, a rice bucket, and some kind of target concentric, eccentric programing in their forearms.
When I was rock climbing exclusively before I broke my back. I could tailor program to anything from 6mm edges to open handed slick globes. You make the adaptation you train for.
Most mountain bikers would benefit training pump management and wrist strength/health not all out crushing force. I don't think squeezing is even advantageous as long as you can remain braced on the bar.
Rock climbing has been nerding out about this since the 90s at least.

@grrunk: I actually think paying for a lesson is something more people should do if they are competitive or even just enjoy riding hard.
I have hired lots of coaches over my athletic life and each one made a huge difference in my understanding of what I was doing.

@VorsprungSuspension: hey Steve, I appreciate you adding in.
I am really familiar with your products and have used them through out my time on the bike.
Up to my hand surgery for dyupatrins I needed a smash pot and esi grips to avoid localized pain in the nodules.
However since hand surgery, actively training grip strength and endurance in a targeted way makes a bigger difference than single product you can buy.
Every mountain biker should be using a rice bucket, a hang board, and fat grips on a barbell.
Wrist flexion and extensions with weight on a band are super useful.

I am surprised we don't talk more about grip strength and exercise to mitigate arm pump.

This is straight out of brave new world
""Brave New World" describes a world where needless consumption is necessary to sustain its economic and caste-based social structures. Sport is not immune; nothing simple can exist, everything must be complicated to the n-th degree. Huxley mentions several of these athletic pursuits."
This is straight up electromagnetic golf.
