Designed with a minimalist approach the
Gamut USA P30 guide is very lightweight finished product that works tremendously well. Designed around impact distribution the bashguard on the P30 is designed to ONLY protect 36 tooth chain rings, with a 104mm-4 bolt spacing. The new bashguard is constructed out of a new polycarbonate blend that's never been used before, and a spoke and cavity structure. Like the original flexible P30 and P40 before it, the new design employs a more optimal approach to energy distribution when absorbing impacts by flexing and returning to form. The new boomerang construction method reduces the overall weight by 25%, while providing greater protection too.
Gamut's design is about protecting what's needed to get to the bottom. For example we will talk about chain rings. If you bend a tooth, or damage your chain ring during a race run it could be the end to your podium chances. However, Gamut's polycarbonate bashguard has been designed around channeling those forces elsewhere. This allows you as the racer to get down to the bottom of your run mechanical free, or as close to that as possible.
Thanks to Dave-M for the shotsGamut guides are exceptionally light! Advertised on their site at 220 grams we had to double check that weight on our own scale. Gamut was nice enough to do a custom design on our bashguard with some Canadian/Pinkbike.com flavor, so we did have a small weight penalty of 4 grams on our setup, however, the
P30 is still extremely light.
Photo contains the P40 boomerang, which is heavier than the P30
The Pinkbike.com race team is stoked to be repping the custom guides this season, so if you see any of the racers at your local hill, take a second to check them out and ask the guys about fit and function.
Gamut offers many other chain guides, all are designed to be weight conscious and chain ring size specific, and are 100% functional. If you have any questions about purchasing, or technologies involved with the Gamut guide, feel free to
contact them through their site.

Editor's Note:
Do to an error at our end, we weighed the Custom Pinkbike.com bash guard with a P40 boomerang and not the correct P30 boomerang. Thus the weight increase of a few grams over manufacturers said weights.
...kinda wish they were e.thirteen though~ but still sick ^__^
OMFG, 4 GRAMS!!!! There go my chances of placing podium!
they are still sick guides though!
gamut guides are sick fo sho. i lvoe mine, for the most part. there are a few things i would like them to change, such as METRIC bolts.... its pretty lame having a chain guide with american bolts, in an all METRIC industry lol
idk if that caption was there when i first posted my comment. i don't recall seeing it. i believe it might have been later added. i saw the post within minutes of its posting. i recall reading the whole thing and the quote above is what i drew from the article lol. i believe the P40 part was added. but oh well, still funny. and still great guides
