PRESS RELEASE: Squamish Enduro

It will be a who's-who of the Canadian mountain bike world this Sunday, May 7th at the OneUp Squamish Enduro presented by Tantalus Bike Shop. Short course riders will thread the needle on a set of fast Squamish classics including Angry M, Your Mom - Phil & Cam’s - Pseudotsuga, Another Man’s Gold, and Hoods in the Woods. The full course remains top secret until its release on Thursday, May 4th at 7pm. What we can say is that it will be a true test across 50km with 1900m climbing and 1400m descending in-stage on some of the trails you know and love, and some that you won’t believe have been there, waiting for race day. Podium finishers leave with their custom OneUp medals and prizing, while the Pro’s are vying for a $2,000 cash prize purse.

The day will be action packed with tons of action on and off course for racers and spectators. Join us at The We Are One Warrior Fan Zone, located on stage 2 of the full course. Dress like your favourite warrior to cheer on everyone from your hometown hero to the worlds fastest enduro athletes! We Are One will have prizing, music, and tons of noise! Bring your cowbell, horns, flags, chainsaws, and anything else to support the racers! Warrior costume not mandatory, but highly encouraged. Think – vikings, superheroes, braveheart, storm troopers. Prizes for best dressed. We will reveal the exact location on our website after course release.

A-FRAME Brewing Company presents the speed zones, on each course length. Fastest male and female (or parents of anyone under 19) will take home their speed in tall cans. Yes - if you go 100km/h you get 100 tall can’s. #NowCheersToThat. A-FRAME will also have a complimentary beer for all participants and volunteers awaiting them at the Squamish Valley Golf Club Apres. Apres is open to participants and volunteers only until 6pm, when we invite everyone to join us for podium awards. Not to be missed - Giro will be presenting the unofficial Squamish hammerschlagen championships, come one come all and try to defeat the nail.

Nesters Market will be on course with their ultra deluxe feed zone mid way through the race, with two smaller additional feed zones on the full course. All volunteers will receive both a $40 Nesters Market and $40 Tantalus Bike Shop gift card.

Think of yourself as more of a mid-pack grinder than a podium finisher? The We Are One Race to Mid-Pack will see the male and female riders who finish in exactly the middle of the results on the We Are One sponsored stages walk away with a set of We Are One Convergence wheels laced on i9 Hydra hubs.

We’ll be donating $1 for each beverage sold at the apres and after party to Squamish Search and Rescue, and you’ll have a chance to win at the raffle where all proceeds will go to the Squamish Off-Road Cycling Association (SORCA). Up for grabs will be a very limited edition set of Triad Trail Supporter We Are One Convergence wheels laced on laser engraved i9 Hydra hubs, a OneUp cockpit setup and dropper bundle, a Giro package with helmet, shoes, socks and gloves, and a Tantalus Bike Shop package. All raffle winners will go home with a no charge guaranteed entry into the 2024 Squamish Enduro. All totalled, we are hoping to put over $12,000 back into the trails this year.

Spruce Race Timing will be running the clock, with live results available throughout the day. Check our website and social channels on race day for full details.

Last but not least a huge thanks to all of the volunteers, sponsors, and individuals who come together to make the Squamish Enduro happen. We couldn’t do it without you.

To anyone inconvenienced by hundreds of excited racers getting all over network and specifically the 9 or so trail/stages for this one Sunday in May; thank you for the room to play! This is a great amount of fun for those involved, all of whom contribute toward the $12,000 going back into the trails this year, from this one race. Go team!

If you’re driving up from Vancouver (and through downtown), the marathon will be causing traffic so plan accordingly.

Not to mention the almost inevitable accidents that happen on the S2S every weekend. Inexperienced motorcycles and inattentive vehicle drivers don't mix well. We were unfortunate enough to get stuck for 5 hours last Saturday trying to get to Squamish. No information as to what was happening, and no way to turn around. At least it was a sunny day!

Right? That really escalated hahah. Should be a great test of going slowish-fast in many places. I for one am stoked it holds a lot of change in it this year.

Agreed! That is going to be a long and very very challenging course (especially in the wet!). Good luck to all the riders, stay safe out there!
