mcvittees I wonder the same! All that gear together probably isn't considered unnecessary, more like uncomfortable. Not too uncomfortable that it would hinder your ability's that much. Think it has a lot to do with the confidence Pro's have at race speeds. Riding that track without elbow, shoulder pads, even gloves! f-ing crazy. Its like a pro skateboarder who doesn't wear helmets because it makes them uncomfortable, Its crazy! What Im saying is NOBODY really expects a crash, usually it's out of nowhere you flip smash your elbow into the ground, a rock, or tree and destroy your arm. Only then you start thinking, should I wear elbow pads??? So why not just wear them before it happens? Always noticed injured riders(recently minnaar) tend to go slower and be more cautious when there back from a crash. Think to myself, even if u don't crash often, why not ride with full body armor, so when you finally do crash it might not hurt so bad and keep u in good shape for the future...

8 Tips and Tricks for Wet Weather Riding
Eyy MIke ever herd of NeverWet...? every mtbr should have this stuff, its amazing. Put it on you bike ur shoes your cloths everything, i even put it on tires... and just wow. They also have this NeverWet for Glass.. that stuffs like some super magic mud barrier on goggles and GoPro lenses. Pretty supersized pinkbike hasnt done a review on any thing like it....
