Pinkbike Poll: Would You Ever Use Professional Data Acquisition Tools?
I've used the Motion Instruments setup for a few days, trying to help setup my new bike back in 2020. It was very interesting and the nerd in me loved the information overload. Honestly the best take-away from the sessions was the confidence in my own ability to feel certain things. Blindly telling the data guy what I felt and then having that confirmed afterwards with the data was cool.
Trying to get a setup purely through data was not the way to go. When the graphs looked really good after a day or 2, I didn't feel like the bike actually felt comfortable to ride. i.e using front and rear travel equally, acheiving full travel regularly made the bike feel pretty too soft and I lacked any confidence to push.
Knowing what I do about how it works and the sort of feel im looking for makes me want to try again and do some testing on a bike that I am much more familiar with.
