As a mtb’er turned full roady I appreciate this content. Rode 100 miles on Sunday. The fun of road riding is turning your body into an engine, seeing how far and fast you can go, being out on nice quiet country roads early in the morning. I still like mtb too but the roads are better than most trails nearby for me.

my next mtb will be an e-mtb. if i want to pedal and get a workout ill go for a road ride. i think in 5 years majority of mtb’s will be e bikes.

The less aggressive bike will feel faster compared to the longer and slacker one. Whether it actually is faster is irrelevant in regard to fun. I’d pick regular stumpy. Only the evo if all my climbs were fire roads, which where I am you up the actual trail as well as down.
