Really awesome explanation, but it leaves me with one question. What's life like when you're that smart? As a qualitative researcher that had to count to 4 in grad school, it would be great to know!

Funny I've been thinking the same thing. I love my ebike for just smashing constant laps, zone 2 / recovery days, or when I just need max dopamine. We don't live near the mountains, so we don't get the joys out here of long, earned descents.So multiple descents on the same trail is pretty much where it's at. My other bike is my enduro bike, and there's just a lot of overlap.
Lately, I've been thinking I can get by with my long-travel e-bike for when I just want to go fast and then an XC bike for pretty much everything else where I just enjoy pedaling, working hard and slowing life down and being in nature.
So I think in the future
- E-Bike for zone 2 days / recovery days and party laps
- XC or downcountry bike for everything else.

Oh by a long shot. Bout time I made the insurance companies suffer :) nerve damage, 3 MRIs, xray, 6 months PT, and a trip, multiple cortisone shots, and a trip to Mayo Clinic .

I’m with you on the new shoulders. I’m on my mid 40s and am 6 months into a nerve injury in my shoulder with at least another 6 months before I can even hop on the stationary. Aging is not for the faint of heart or the lazy.
Be nice to give elders, they’ve seen some stuff, hah.

I mean, I guess people who love riding but have auto immune disease, severe back issues, recovering from spinal injuries, etc, people looking for zone 2 efforts while still training, etc. should give up?
