The 2018 Photo of the Year Winner is…
I don't want to take anything away from Sterling's photo, because it's certainly a rad photo. But for those inclined to cynicism and/or fanboy-ism, your same comment can be made about his too: i.e., "Meh. Cool moonscape photo with a dark blob in the sky that has a wheel coming off the top of it. Doesn't do it for me."

I like your perspective. The rile-ing is just fanboi-ism. It is the internet after all...

The 2018 Photo of the Year Winner is…
You mean either of them? I think it's fair to say that there's not a professional digital photo posted that doesn't have a fair bit of post-processing going on.

Voting Closed for the FINAL ROUND of the 2018 Pinkbike Photo of the Year Contest
@mdackert: No doubt. The Lorence photo is captivating, for sure. This contest was filled with amazing photos and some hard choices in many matchups— including this one. I’m just stoked to see so much great photographic art making a contest like this so difficult, regardless of who wins or loses a particular matchup.

Voting Closed for the FINAL ROUND of the 2018 Pinkbike Photo of the Year Contest
I'll take a shot at this. Expansive landscapes, gorgeous views, a feeling of being "out there", along with the thrill of riding a bike on trails in such places, are huge reasons why many people enjoy mountain biking. I think Baybutt's shot captures all of that in an incredibly beautiful photograph. I'd guess that many of the people voting for it are called to cool photos that remind them of how awesome mountain biking is for them. Many of the trick photos (despite being some great pics) are simply unrelatable to a lot of (if not most) people. Gaffney's was an incredible shot, but one could make the argument that it doesn't capture what mountain biking means to a lot of people. In some sense it's more like a really rad BMX photo. Same goes for Lorence. It's a really amazing shot with some obvious technical achievements capturing a neat trick, but it doesn't have anything to do with what mountain biking means to many folks. That's just my opinion. But you asked...

Round 4 Voting Closed - Pinkbike Photo of the Year Contest
Oh no, the photo that I liked the most didn't make it through!. Everyone who voted against it must not understand art/photography/mountain-biking/the-purpose-of-this-contest.

Voting Closed - Round 3 of the 2018 Pinkbike Photo of the Year Contest
What makes you think people are not voting for the dog photo according to the quality of the art? Personally I think it’s a great photo— nice composition, cool perspective, and to me it captures the joy of riding bikes. In my opinion it’s been the better photo in each matchup so far. Though the next one between it and Gaffney is tough. Two great photos capturing completely different feelings.

Video: Phil Atwill Goes to Thailand - Part 1
What up man? I'm gonna take a stab and assume that you are the Irish dude my wife and I were riding with in Chiang Mai. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip! Indeed, the riding in Thailand is awesome! Along with the food, people, and just about everything else.
