Transition Sentinel Alloy GX Size L

$1900 USD
Just about the most fun you can have on 2 wheels, if you wanna ride anything and everything! I’ve loved every second on this bike, but I recently got a Patrol, so it’s time for this one to go to a new home. Overall it’s in very good shape. Wheels are true, suspension has had service every ~50 ride hours, etc. because I’m a professional bike mechanic. Specs as follows: - Fox Perf. Elite suspension - 36 with Grip2 and Float X (both have ~20 riding hours since last service) - DT Swiss M1900 Wheels (bomber!) - GX Eagle drivetrain with a recently waxed chain! If you aren’t waxing your chain, you should be. - Code RSC brakes, 200mm rotors (pads and rotors have most of their life left) - OneUp 35mm rise carbon bars and 35mm Deity Copperhead stem - OneUp 210mm dropper post - Minion DHF (Exo+ Maxxterra) up front and Kryptotal Rr (enduro, soft) out back. Both tires have tons of life left. Hit me with any questions and offers! PS “ALL-MOUNTAIN BIKES” ARE THE BEST.

As a hardcore mma fan, I am clearly in enemy territory here in the comments.

@Opinionator: you sure got quite a bit of information about my psyche from me stating my geo preferences.

Poll: What Would You Change About Bike Geometry?
confidence and front end grip are what i’m after, so gimme slightly steeper HTA, a nice tall stack, and a long chainstay.

Staff Rides: Seb Stott’s Pivot Firebird
That sure is a very hot take that almost no one would agree with. Steep seat angles (and 165 cranks) have improved my ergonomics for climbing steep stuff so much that I would never buy a bike with a effective seat angle sub 77-ish degrees. I don't think it's a "fad", and my evidence for that it that longer travel bikes have been going steeper and steeper for something like 6-8 years now, with near universal praise. I rode the privateer 161 for a couple years and that 80 degree seat tube angle felt like the absolute limit for my preferences, but 77-79 seems to be a real sweet spot for most riders.

Hot tip: the Rab Phantom (bike-specific or not) works great as an ultralight packable rain jacket for a lot less than these offerings, same-ish price as the gorewear jacket.

Video: Do You Really Need DH Casing Tires?
I'll throw in my experience with lighter vs heavier tires: I get more "good feedback" through the bike, yet stay way more settled with heavier tires. It ends up being easier to stay on line through roots and rocks. I'm rocking the conti enduro kryptotals now after years on EXO then EXO+ and I'm loving that change so far. I have, however, had to rethink tire pressure. 22/26 was my sweet spot on EXO+, and now I'm going down to 19/22 and might go even lower (I weigh 185 lbs). Buddy who got me to try these tires is 200ish lbs and running like 18/20, which is insane to me. YMMV, we ride in Santa Cruz.

Review: 7 of the Best Hydration Vests Ridden & Rated
I personally use my running vest, a Salomon ADV Skin 5. The two 500 ml soft flasks up front stay nice and stable, it's got fantastic pockets that are almost all accessible while wearing the pack, I can throw in a 1.5L bladder when needed, and it fits and breathes INCREDIBLY well. Don't sleep on running vests for more than just running. It seems the things that make a running vest great also make it rock for big bike rides.
