First Ride: Manitou's New R8 XC Fork
Dang, viewed from the outside Kaz is such a good employee, just delivers like the mailman. First ride impressions, then we learn that , of course, he's actually on his fifth ride at least. Kaz, I really appreciate your ability to objectively review different types of bikes and parts in a context that is close to what they were intended for. You can reliably voice a balanced opinion and convey your thoughts and feelings in a useful manner without seeking to look clever or tooting your own horn. I know this is out of the blue and not related to this specific review, but I just wanted to say thanks!

Chromag Announces New Rootdown Hardtail
Does that mean you're against threaded BB? Yeah, just joking, I know BB doesn't strip, but it does seize or cross thread....

Chromag Announces New Rootdown Hardtail
2015. A time when 29er's were still for light duty X/C riding. In 2013 my riding buddy bought a big S Enduro 29. I don't remember him doing light duty xc... I love Chromag, I own some of their stuff, watch their vids, like that they support the athletes and filters around them.

Value Field Test: Devinci Kobain - Hardtail Nirvana
@mountainsofsussex: lol. Where this bike is from they get on average 312 days per year with no rain. So there's that. I ride in squamish regularly. If the local experts say the brakes work, believe them. And rotors are cheap.

First Ride: YT Tues MK4 Downhill Bike
@gabiusmaximus: the real advantage of superboost is improved chainline in climbing gears when using regular boost crankset. Like we are one does. Not a good idea on a DH bike because worse chainline on small hard gears means more dropped chains when ratcheting the cranks. Wider superboost cranks means more pedal strikes.

First Ride: YT Tues MK4 Downhill Bike
@gabiusmaximus: DT Seuss has done extensive testing on super boost and they don't see a gain in wheel strength. Sure the bracing angle of the spikes is better, but the tension remains low on the non drive side due to high dish. Interesting that 157 dh had perfect balance between both sides. Super boost was necessary for about 5 minutes in 2017 when we had plus bikes , with front derailleurs, and requirements for short chainstays. There was no way around it. All three of those things almost disappeared now.

The demo 8 from specialized was 135 rear hub until 2020. That Gwinn run on the dt ex471 down the whole track was on one of those.same thinking from specialized, bike fits in tighter spots, better derailleur protection, better heel clearance.

Pinkbike Poll: Riser Bar or Extra Spacers Under the Stem?
It's not just how it's traditional in motocross, it's also the position that handlebar manufacturers for push bikes use when measuring the sweep back and up. It's the default setting. There's been quite a few articles around saying high bars preserve reach, they're wrong. One thing I noticed about high bars for dj, street or trials (50 and up) or any use really, is that I'm super sensitive to bar roll on them.
