Results: Red Bull Joyride - Crankworx Whistler 2024
I am not looking to stir anything up, but legitimately curious. How does a comp like this get scored nowadays? These are all very talented riders, no doubt about it. But, faced with a somewhat unique obstacle on the course (the wallride), all the top runs left it alone. Would the score of a trick on the wall not count for as much as a particular move on a straight jump? Is it not worth the risk to the rest of the run to potentially crash on it?
Personally, I really liked the wild west of obstacles slopestyle contests of yesteryear would feature... it seemed to showcase riders' creativity and ability to adapt to different terrain a lot more. It's almost become a different sport at this point - much more calculated and precise. I wonder if the future will bring both approaches together?
