2024 Qualifier Events Announced for UCI Pump Track World Championships

PRESS RELEASE: 2024 Velosolutions UCI Pump Track World Championships

The series of 15 qualifying events for the 2024 Velosolutions UCI Pump Track World Championships is set to kick off in April. The top athletes from the Qualifiers being held on Velosolutions Pump Tracks around the globe will earn the right to compete for the coveted rainbow jersey.

After a season-opener in the heart of Genk, Belgium, the series will continue through captivating landscapes worldwide: from Sepheo in Lesotho, to the home of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in Aigle, Switzerland, then on to the historic town of Ainsa, Spain, and the adrenaline-packed venues of Sugarland, USA and Košice, Slovakia .

European charm meets pump track fervour as Otrokovice, Czechia, provides the stage for pump track specialists before the series of qualifiers moves continents: to Asia and an event in Yantai, China. Hvidovre, nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Copenhagen, Denmark, will provide the backdrop for the next exhilarating qualifier, followed by Dungog, Australia and Havelock North in New Zealand, offering a chance for Southern Hemisphere riders to shine. The competition will then traverse the natural beauty of Sicamous in British Columbia, Canada, before continuing its journey to Monthey, Switzerland; Suizhou, China; and Erlangen, Germany.

 Cool and definitely more of a world cup than the mountainbike wc. That said, weren't there more rounds in the past? I hope there are more rounds to be added later on, besides the finals of course.

 We will still add Japan and the LCQ at this stage, at the moment that's it, but you never know!

 @velosolutionsglobal: Cool to hear! I honestly don't know what goes into organizing such a qualifier as to me it seems like if the track is there already, all there's left to do is get a good local crew to set up and run the event. But obviously things always look easier from my side of the keyboard. Either way, it would be cool if there would be more qualifiers on different continents, offering a more diverse group of riders the opportunity to qualify for the finals. That said, of course I love what you're doing already. Keep it up!

 @vinay: very late to the party with this answer, but its a fairly expensive exercise once you start adding timing systems, race directors, photographers, videographers, permits to host events, infrastructure, insurance etc. One of the largest costs is that the winners expenses are covered by us or the local organiser to go to the World Championships at the end of the season. So it all ads up very quickly. We would love to host as many as possible, but it becomes a costly exercise. Thank you for all the support!!

 Australia has an official Pump Track national championships, which is part of its DH, XCO national champs week at Awaba. How is that not the UCI qualifying event? So you can be the Australian champ but you haven't qualified for worlds

 @velosolutionsglobal. The US is large enough to have an East and West coast round. Switzerland and China get 2 rounds but only 1 in the US. How can I convince you to create a regional series(in the US) where riders can qualify for a National Championship(world qualifiers)??. There is nothing less exciting than seeing 1 race for an entire country that is only marketed to professional riders. I live in a state with 4 Velosolutions tracks(Oregon) and with the surrounding states, you would have close to 20 to choose from and no one has yet to capitalize on creating a local and regional series like every other form of bicycle racing. The market is yours, BMX is dying a slow death.

 If you look at how these qualifiers are spead out on the map, anything in The Netherlands is probably close enough to either Copenhagen, Genk or Erlangen. North America has two stops (and Texas should probably serve Central America as well), Africa one. nothing for South America. But yeah, would be beautiful to see more rounds.
