@groghunter: Maybe they've been resisting and have no intention of being bought out. Naturally every company has it's dollar amount it'll sell for, but if they're still genuinely having fun with their venture they might just hold out for a number that's too good to let go. Neat tech though.
I wish the industry had more than just two major players. It's one of the reasons pricing has gotten so out of hand.

@rojo-1: I don't think it'll be that hard, there's already quite a few companies trying out the Avinox motor, and I think a few trying the Gobao motor. I really hope that Aventon takes on designing a frame around it, as they fairly price their batteries, unlike most companies.
Yeah, I see that as a huge issue too. If companies ditch motors (which IIRC you can't easily buy off the shelf) year to year, you're going to have said companies just drop out of the game. There's just too much risk. Which means we're going to go back to having 2 or 3 choices, and that's it.
Customers back, pricing. Since COVID the industry has gone a little off their rocker with pricing, and the strangest thing to me is that so many mountain bikers seem to defend it, as though paying higher prices is virtuous somehow.

Some of these are pretty interesting. It must be such a dilemma for Shimano and SRAM when it comes to releasing a gearbox motor; it would cannibalize a huge percentage of their sales. Yet if they don't release something they risk falling even more out of favour than if they did. My prediction: they release it, but price it too high and it fails to gain adoption.
I really hope SRAM adds some modes to their motor. 2 just isn't enough.
