This is such a weird stance people have to me. I can't do any of the stuff the pros do in the X Games, Supercross, NHL, etc either, but I still enjoy following them and watching it.
I would also disagree, there is a lot of overlap. I've been riding DJ for half a decade now and it has certainly made me a better overall rider on the bigger bikes as well.

ah yes lets keep printing more plastic junk that doesn't last instead. Every 3D printed tool I've ever used is garbage and you're lucky to get like 1-2 uses out of it before it fails. In terms of recyclability metals are typically better than plastic.

@Banan725135650: On the subject of Marshals, literally anyone can volunteer and be one. Source I marshaled for Snowshoe. Of course they have some level of responsibility, but point being is it's just your average Joes and Janes with basically 15 min of training beforehand. The course should never have a B line cut under or right back into the A line like that. It would be hard for a marshal, given the experience I just mentioned, to manage multiple riders coming down multiple lines at the same time. The UCI and organizers are supposed to have multiple marshals and official event organizers at higher consequence zones like this.

@scottgray:this is a wider issue not to be directed to the riders, but to the UCI and race organizers as a whole. I know the community loves to support "the privateers" but honestly my hot take I don't get it.
This is the pinnacle of DH racing with the best riders in the world. I don't get how privateers with 0 chance of ever podiuming let alone even qualifying should be here. You don't see this in any other premier racing event like Supercross or Moto GP. That said, I'm all for a lower tier feeder race system that allows those up and coming racers who deserve it to work their way up to the World Cup circuit.

@likeittacky: Because we want to see big air and big tricks in a competition format. You can't do that with goat paths and little dirt lips. You need fast packed trails to get the speed and wide steep landings. The tracks are still very much gnarly and aren't manicured flow trails. Maybe that's hard to comprehend unless unless your standing there in person but the best riders in the world are still struggling to get clean runs. It's the same argument every year with Rampage. All these keyboard warriors saying "iTs ToO sLoPeStyLe" but cant even hit a 5' drop or gap jump.
