@apfroggy0408: it can certainly be shocking at first but it kinda just turns into something similar to planning out hydration on a super hot day. Bad days still happen for all sorts of unknown reasons. But overall t1d in 2025 is a mild burden as opposed to an absolute disability as it was before pump and cgm tech became good enough in the last couple decades.
Get the kid a g7 and your mental burden will drop drastically.
