really liked this Felix, I see the points about a bit of a lack in the flow department but all the same I think it's a lot better than anything I've created.
Cool point of it was recognising some of the trails and locations which were In 'Virtuous' Big Grin

 Thanks Gee!
This was my first time shooting mountain biking with another rider, and I think the main problem was that what the rider wanted and what I wanted were 2 different things. I usually have a very clear image of what I want a video to look like long before I actually shoot it, and the rider wanted to do something completely different. So it ended up being a compromise between the two, which is why it doesn't flow so well. He was also only willing to do 3-4 runs for the whole video, which didn't give me the opportunity to redo shots I had missed or screwed up. But I can't really put all the blame on him, I guess you have to work with what you've got... Big Grin

I totally get what your saying, having a rider who's not willing to put the work into filming is so frustrating, makes it so much more difficult for the cameraman to produce something worth uploading to the net.
It is hard to compromise an idea that you've been thinking over in your head for ages, but sometimes when I've let the rider have their say the results have turned out really cool, other times less so.
You managed to hook up with any skiers in Verbier yet?

Yeah, I really appreciate rider feedback and different ideas and opinions which can add to a video or show a different perspective, but that wasn't entirely the case here. Especially since I have every shot planned in my head with the music and all, so changing anything radically is hard. Haven't found anyone yet but I can't say I've been looking too hard. I'm trying to get a few paid shoots in the next few weeks and I'll try and find another skier after that.

Not really a fan Felix, just lacked flow I think, maybe because that rider wasn't exactly the speediest. Still an aright edit concidering you haven't ever done a proper DH edit besides point and shoot self-editting!

That back drop is so scenic though! Also noticed that your camera quality is boss!

Thanks Ty. Yeah the rider wasn't exactly fast (not much I could do about that, there weren't many people that wanted to film yet) and I also hadn't produced and edited a video for a year. And it was my first time actually filming someone else, so that takes a bit of getting used to. I wish I had more of chance to shoot MTB, not just 3 weeks a year.

Get in contact with Verbier management and see what they can do for you.
The Orpheus boys (guys who made 3FOCUS) out together a sweet section in their movie filmed at Verbier.

I saw 3FOCUS and it was pretty damn sick. Apart from them nobody has really covered the Verbier scene, although I've pretty much shot all the tracks at some point or another. The problem is that I live 10,000km away from Verbier so I can only go during the holidays so I don't have much time to shoot. It's also the only time I can actually ride DH during the year. The closest DH would be in Oz but it's still pretty far away to get to a place where there's proper riding.

Holy shit is this song ever overused.
  • + 1
Seriously? I've never heard it in a DH video before...

Not on a DH vid, but I have heard it on PLENTY of street, park and DJ edits.

Ive heard it on a DH vid before.

Unlucky for me then. I chose the song through completed different means, so it was just a bad coincidence. I don't watch any street / park / DJ edits anymore and you can't expect me to watch every DH video out there Smile .

I aint bitching or anything, its just that this song has been used on every type of video. Over. and Over.
On the other note, I forgot to compliment this video.

Very nice work! Riders and filmers.

Yeah it really is a shame about the song...I should have paid more attention. Thanks for the compliment Smile
