Save Moos.

Our local trails are in danger of being knocked down, wanted to make this video to show how much they mean to us and how much work has gone into them. moostrails.blogspot.com

i really dont understand why people complain bout this stuff, after all your hard work, only takes one person to compleatly pull the plug on it. it makes me so mad to hear bout trails being knocked down ( its happened to some of our local spots too so i know how gutted you feel ) they complain when were on the streets causing trouble then when we finaly have something to do,somewhere to go, they find a way to destroy it. its not right really, i dont see what harm you are doing to people at that spot and as you said, this spot is well known now world wide, it will be such a shame if they get knocked down. wish i could do something to help you guys, i really do. good luck and hope moos stays where it belongs Smile

The local trails that I used to go to got taken down, and were of a similar quality to these. Loads of people went there, we kept the place clean and kept noise to a minimum, and there's even videos of the DMR team riding there. But we just get grouped in with antisocial groups who make fires, drink, and litter, and so the fun is ruined by people who don't even ride the jumps.

Thats the exact same situation which happened to us. A bunch of people started littering and having fires and sure enough our entire dirt jumps were wiped out. Earlier, last year, my city also took down our DH track, for reasons that i am unaware of... to be honest, where our trails were, they looked a lot nicer than some sh*tty, torn out, flat and unrecognizable dump of dirt.

I guese they rather you getting in trouble selling drugs and being in gangs.....
  • + 1
Wish you guys the best of luck! it would be a shame to see these trails get destroyed
  • + 1
Put some signs up like no littering and fires! It might help you save the jumps I hope these don't get torn down. I had a spot in LA called Forest Lawn jumps and the guys who built them were nice but it only took a few people that littered and one neighbor to get the jumps taken down good luck!

i feel your pain i had a prety sick line consisting of a hip and 2 doubles(i got pics on my profile) they where prety much in my back yard just about 10 feet off of my property but that was enough to get torn down, but what really sucked about it was i prety much built them all by myself with a bad back(back surgery) i would work so hard and long on them that i couldnt even move the next day seriously. i probably moved close to 30 qubic yards of dirt and lifted out close to a ton of rocks all by myself, and when they got torn down i was pissed i tried everything to keep them, the guy that tore them down said his insurance wouldnt let me have them but that was a lie. then he told me and my friends a couple stories about him ruining other kids's fun like he tore down a snow pile because he thought he would get sued if it collapsed on these little kids that were having fun building it and then we found out he was the one who tore down one of the most famous places we had to ride here in bend, OR the canal jumps. the guys a dick he deosnt care about kids's safety or about leting us have fun he just cares about his money.

i find that no matter where the trails are, or who rides them, there is always someone who has to complain about it. weather it be because they are jealous of how talented many people that ride there are, or if its just because they like to stereotype the average dirt jumper. either way its ridiculous to see such amazing trails that have clearly taken many years of perfecting, being torn down. it happens all around the world and something needs to be done about it. we need to form an alliance to be able to stop each and every government from doing such things. although some trails are illegally built there needs to be an easier way to legally make them on public property.

I think if it got VOD you would have the whole Pb community behind you!
Not to say the least you have so many people behind moos already Smile
  • + 3
 My vote for VOD,
just a thought, could you not set up an online petition to save them, i am sure most of the pinkbike community would sign it, and surly a good few thousand signatures couldn't be ignored?
  • + 1
best thing to do is join our facebook group 'save moos' and wait for updates
  • + 2
Hope you get this sorted. Ive lost trails that took years 2 build! We have our own private spot now with full permission. People knew we were there, but it took 1 man shouting loud enough 2 fuck us over. Police also threatened us with ASBO's 4 building some other trails! Back in the day we had north shore stuff plus loads of trails, some said we had a better scene than pay 2 ride places like Chicksands! Now that place is dead,so enjoy what u got while u can!!

its like here we cant do any thing every dirt jumps we build are destroyed we are hving to strive and find some really sketchy places for our dj's like we have some located in gravel pits like it is just not right we are doing something good like we are not writing graphitti or any thing like that but the city dont see it and they just destroy it and now we are getting bike confinscated and getting tickets. like the cities need to help more then any thing the more we have places to ride the better and happier we will be but not having any where to ride is ruining us. so i understand what you are all going threw

these shouldnt be knocked down if the council gave you funding for machinery to make them that big and i know im riding a lot smaller jumps than you but i know what you mean when it takes hours and a lot of effort for the jumps to be that good and perfected...
  • + 1
thsi is exactly the same with my local please grant the planning its not just jumps it the effort behind it, the imagination and the love of ridding if you get rid of moos or any trails you will change so many peoples lives in such a great way please save all trails under thret of being distoryed we love them muchly

You've got to remember that although a complaint has been made and the council are 'looking into it' that is by law what they have to do. Although it is mega gash that someone even made a complaint about trails that have been very well built and very well maintained the council has to take action on any complaint it receives...just like any other company as by law they have to have a complaints process in place. If this is not followed and they come across as bias to a particular side then they may be liable.

All you can do is take the mature road, maybe organise an afternoon for council members and a few locals to come for a walk around with the more mature Wink members of the digging crew and explain how the trails were built, how they are maintained and guide them step by step through the biking side of things....gotta remember 90% of claims made are by people that haven't actually got a clue about the activity they are complaining about, they just see big scary jumps and think little jimmy is just going stroll over, attempt something too big for himself and then end up in hospital!!

On the plus side I have just signed over management of everything cycle related down in Totnes, we currently have Kye Forte's old skate park open to the public for private hire use (cheapest in the country) and have 240 acres which we will be expanding to make the most of over the next couple of years. Visit www.fortitudebikepark.co.uk for more info.

MAKE THIS VOD!!! great filming and hes making a great point help out and savw there local trails the guy that filmed this shlould just sent this page to there council soo they know how important those jumps are to people i wish the best of luck to your guys SAVE MOOS!!!
  • + 1
but what's the complaint about? i mean who is disturbed by a couple of people riding bikes in a forest (or whatever) if their reason is safety maybe you can try to solve the problem by fixing a few banners proposing the use of hlemet... it is simple... if you donĀ“t know how to ride trails, then donĀ“t ride them

i wish i could ride a place like that every day
  • + 1
why do they have to take down this spot, if they go we have nothing to do we'll mess about on the streets that would get more complaints that riding a spot nowhere near those cotiage twats if i goes down im gunna flip.
  • + 1
thing that really really pisses me off is like citys pay for baseball fields or soccer fields for there sports but not ours wtf! and even skate board parks where the skaters kick us out for being at a "skate board" park
  • + 2
those are definitely some of the sickest trails I've ever seen, loved seeing them in Ride your way too. I hope you get to keep em
  • + 2
awesome video love the chilled vibe! i so hope you get to keep the trails as so much love and digging has gone into them. i can't believe its from just one complaint. you have all our hope and support...good luck dudes!
  • + 1
Unfortunately since making this video there have been more trivial complaints. but Thanks for the support.
  • + 1
Yeah this kind of thing pisses me off. we are doing the world a favor riding our bikes. staying out of trouble, staying in shape and just socializing. But no people just see the bad in stuff. up here where I live we dont even get a chance to start building. Like we spent an entire day preparing to build in a location, next day it was trashed.
  • + 1
What was the complaint about, i dont think this is fair just because it takes ALOT of time to build trails like those. I know what it feels like our trails are about to get torn apart.
  • + 2
There have actually been a couple, which I was unaware of whilst making the video. All complaints have been fairly unreasonable though, One from a man ranting about a set of badgers living near the trails which were being disrupted by us. Ridiculous really.
  • + 1
ye well we got complaints about chavs lighting fires and leaving rubish then we got the blame for it all, we tried to keep on top of it but we cant be there all the time
  • + 2
if that guy is complaining about badgers just tell him how many cows they infect with T.B each year and how that affects the greater picture for other people not just some worn out hippy that wants to save a big rodent. or just shoot the badgers and say it was an unfortunate bit of road kill. your trails are so sick and if they think of them as a place where people cause trouble you should just take some super arty shots and say look how fricken cool they are and some one will surely realise just how amazing they really are and i do hope they don't get knocked down because that would be like Canadians having A-line ripped to shit.

I have never been to these trails but OMG they need to stay. If the council or how ever knock them down they need to get a life and go sort out Actual problems in the communities not guys riding bikes and Being Gnarly !
  • + 1
You guys should figure out how much it would be to buy the land. The space didn't look too big from the video, but then again its just the video.

find who ever it was that complained, and beat the fuck out of em'!!!!!!
  • + 3
that would just make thing a hell of a lot worse though. best thing to do is to just keep calm and just work with the council, you dont want to turn against the council.
