when he says needles he means the rider ''andrew nethling'' and by rockgardens im guessing he means the rocky sections of the corse.

When I said "Needles", I meant "Eh, what rock garden" was being said by him as though it was a quote. It wasn't actually, it was implying that he didn't even see the rock garden because he was going so fast. Quite basic really.
