Crawling around here on PB to see someone riding a Bronson, your commentary proved to be entertaining. How do you like the bike?

Ha, thanks. That was my last run of the day and those trails are definitely less terrible with a dedicated downhill bike.

About the bike : 2015 aluminum frame, Rockshox Pike fork, 2 by 10 gearing, Fox rear shock CTD (yawn), XT clutch rear mech, SLX brakes, running tubeless.

The bike is definitely badass. I've been on several Specialized FSR (and only Specialized) bikes since I started riding 12 years ago. This is my first Santa Cruz. The VPP is great so far, ascending or descending. What I'm most thrilled with though is the entire package. The Pike deserves all the hype it's garnished and between the wheel size and Maxxis tires, the bike handles exceptionally well.

My opinion may be more interesting in a year. I'm pretty rough with my equipment and am curious for the long term. A buddy of mine who rides frequently and dangerously has owned a Heckler (same bike, but single pivot) for seven years and just changed the bearings out for the first time a month ago. I got this bike one week after public release.

Will be adding a chainring bash guard and next year will trade out that rear shock for something less yawn inducing.

Hope this helps.

Almost a year. The bike is still dope and running like a champ. Curious and anticipating the direction of Santa Cruz.

@mashira: Thanks for getting back Smile I ended up going specialized as my height fell right between M and L for the Bronson and neither of them fit well. Amazing looking bike - I hope to demo one eventually!

Any thoughts on the new Bronson 2.0?

The first version is still super dope. New angles on the bike has pushed it a bit closer to the last version's Nomad. I think all the changes are dope, but no where near dope enough for me to sell mine and get a new one. All the geometry changes are pretty sweet, but probably the VPP link getting tucked in the frame is the neatest thing. I would think you would have to really hit something just right to hit the slightly exposed link on the gen 1 version. Long story short, if you're considering a new bike, it's a surefire winner. If you have a generation 1 Bronson, I would just rock that bike til it dies.
