171028 Chainsaw Ridge

Easily the most consistently difficult trail I have ever done. Continuously steep, loose, exposed in spots, technical, and gnarly. Deserving of the Double Black rating IMHO. Took a slow rider like me 2hrs to get to the top. Likely pushed up at least 1/3 of that because of the steepness and fatigue. A must-do at least once.

So far the cost of living is not as high as people told me, I live in Surrey and I'm quite content with the setup I have. I want to try Vancouver island this weekend. If I make it I'll shoot you a text

It's a good challenge under dry, perfect conditions. This would be dangerous, for me, in the wet. Have a safe trip!

Hope you can give me some pointers for nice trails for the winter

No real winter in Vancouver/Vancouver Island. There will always be good trails to ride, although they will likely be wet. But most of the lower level trails will be rideable. I know the Vancouver Island trails pretty well. Not as well versed in the Vancouver area trails.
You'll love the riding and curse the cost of living.
