for non lock on grips- use a flathead screwdrive to lift the inside end of the grip, spray HAIR SPRAY under, twist and remove. to put the new ones on, spray HAIR SPRAY inside the new grip, slide on and position, wait 20-30 minutes for the hair spray to dry and become tacky. (they'll never slide around)

or cut off the old crappy ones off with razor blade then get nice new lock-ons. By the way those peaty grips are nasty. I just got them for my DJ bike.

Surfspur, thanks for that tip. All though I use lock-ons, rest of my family uses normal grips, that'll come handy even on my electra

Use an air compressor to slide the non lock ons, on and off! That way you don't have to wait for anything to dry. All you have to do is put the hose between the bar and grip, squeeze some air and it should slip right on.

hrm, should have addressed that issue. In this case you got a few options. If there is a big enough gap between each side of the locking rings (where the bolt is tightening down, bringing the 2 sides together) you can try cutting the bolt with a hacksaw through that gap.
If this dosent work, you may try this. Go to the local hardware store and find a set of "easy out" bits. They are specially designed to take out stripped bolts and such.
Or you can just bring it to your LBS
