Stolen HUKK's-Be on the look out for two custom builds.

Nov 28, 2006
by Tyler Maine
Both of our blue HUKKS were stolen off the third floor balcony of our North Vancouver BC apartment on the morning of Sunday November 26th, 2006 at approximately 6:00 am while we were fast asleep. There were tracks left in the snow of our bikes tires and the evil thieves’ foot prints. This was obviously a premeditated plan and was done efficiently and effectively. These bikes are very limited and unique and easily noticeable. They will be sorely missed by my wife and I and it will be next to impossible to really replace these limited bikes. Here are the specs:

HUKK #1

Ø Metallic blue medium HUKK frame with custom front shock mounting plates (thicker than standard) and custom top tube gusset with a chrome swing arm.
Ø 2005 Marzocchi 888RC with flat crown and direct mount stem.
Ø Marzocchi Rocco rear shock.
Ø Magura Louise FR brakes.
Ø Silver Race Face Diabolus cranks.
Ø Race Face Diabolus handlebar.
Ø Race Face chain guide.
Ø Hadley rear hub.
Ø NSB front hub.
Ø FSA pig headset.
Ø Race Face Atlas seatpost.
Ø SDG Ti railed saddle
Ø 2 X Mavic X719 Hard Ano rims
Ø Kenda Nevegal 2.5 rear tire and Maxxis Minion 2.7 front tire.
Ø Shimano 105 rear der.
Ø Shimano 8spd beat up shifter.

This bike had seen a large amount of use over the summer and was worked in.

HUKK #2

Ø Turquoise blue small HUKK frame with a chrome swing arm.
Ø 2006 Marzocchi 66SL
Ø Manitou 3 way swinger rear shock.
Ø Magura Louise FR brakes.
Ø Gold North Shore Billet custom one off cranks.
Ø Race Face chain guide.
Ø Bontregar Big Earl handlebar.
Ø Silver 30mm Race Face Diabolus stem.
Ø Hadley rear hub.
Ø Black front hub.
Ø Race Face Diabolus headset.
Ø SDG I-Beam seatpost.
Ø SDG I-Beam bell air saddle
Ø 2 X Mavic X719 Hard Ano rims
Ø Kenda Nevegal 2.5 tires front and rear.
Ø Sram 7.0 rear der.
Ø Sram 7.0 rear shifter.

This bike is like new and hasn’t seen much use over the summer as my wife is pregnant and didn’t ride much in the fall.

I'm so sorry to hear about your bike losses, I hope you can get them back, like everyone above mentioned. One thing, if there's any way possible, (depending on if you built your bike from the ground up) to get the serial numbers for the individual pieces. My friend had is Santa cruz V10 stolen not a month ago, and saved his serials for each of the items he added, and sure enough, on ebay, he spotted his front forks with two scratches identical to his forks, asked the seller for the serial number, and ended up finding quite a few pieces of his bike. Sadley the frame and a few other parts were never found...

Good luck again, and i hope you'll get your bikes back...

Happy future riding,
-RyBo

sorry to hear of your losses and hope you find them soon. A friend of mine had his demo 8 stolen from him and a couple of weeks later he saw an ad sellin one so he went and checked it out. it was his and he confirmed it using the serial number. i think the guy is still in hospitel

Major bummer about the bikes, I keep my banshees locked up all the time and dont ride around the streets on 'em (no point advertising them to the local tea leaves)

p.s building up a jump bike made up from cheep bits from ebay so i can ride to the shops/work etc without having to worry about some moron nicking it!

I feel your pain, I've had a couple bikes jacked, one they broke a quality U-lock off of it. The other they jacked off the back of my car when I was within sight (obviously not paying attention) phoning the cops because the landlord took my on my damage deposit and ran when I went back to university one fall. I always store indoors and gave insurance. Bikes are always a hot item.

A friend of mine had his lock cut and bike jacked from his univercity gym, I felt really bad because he had just saved up (as a student) and got a sweet deal on the bike and was truly stoked. A few weeks wend by and he had given up all hope of getting the bike back when he saw an add for a bike that matched his.... him and his buddy went down to some back ally in Vancouver and met this guy who had the bike and sure enough it was his. He didn't freak out he test rode it around and enjoyed being back on it (confirmed the Serial number... then he just said to the guy. To be honest i'm not gonig to pay you for this bike.... I'm just going to take it... So there you go! Good things can happen to good people so don't give up searching.

hahah thats awesome, like some dude tried breaking into my car once and i walked up to him and said "can i help you" he said he left 'his keys' in the car so I said "here, maybe mine will work" so I just opened my car and told him to get the f*ck out of here before I call the cops. Thieves are weak pussies. Hope you get your bikes back man

Hense why I have an m16 next to my bed. For someone to get my bike, they have to come through me and the 40 .308 cal rounds that will land where I aim them. I cant beleive it has come to this. You practically need to sleep next to your bike to keep it safe.
  • 0 0
Dude--last time I checked, M16s shot 5.56mm or .223 caliber. Also, unless you're in the military, that would be an AR15--not an M16. Just say you sleep next to your bike and you're willing to defend it--quit trying to act like Rambo--you give the rest of us a bad image.

It really sucks to get your bike stolen and I feel badly for the OP. Lock them up and keep them next to you if possible.
We got 6" of snow in Seattle and I had to take my banshee to run errands yesterday. I had to lock it up at the post office--but I didn't let it out of my sight while I was there.

True high speed dh, freeriding means trusting your equipment with your life. Why anyone would let it "fly" on stolen bikes is crazy. Bike thieves: you can't steal skill, or kill the spirit of true riders. What karma awaits these fools after they "geek-crash" off some wannabe hip jump? Broken bones? Missing teeth? Deep scarring gashes? I wish I could be there to wag my finger in your face when you're on the ground writhing in pain and can't breathe cuz you hurt too much. You steal cuz you can't ride. In the end, you're just a plain, loser thief. You suck.

I just remembered a cool story of a bike theif getting theirs. My buddy Ben was at a bar after a ride having a beer when he saw a guy grab his bike off the patio railing. The guy actually started riding toward Ben. Calm and collected Ben stood up leaned over the railing and clotheslined the bitch into the ground, saving his bike. I'd like to embellish it a bit by adding he jumped on the theif and gave him a couple face shots for the road but I can't confirm that part. Rad eh?

Yo man. he clearly stated that they were jacked out of his third story north vancouver BC balcony. NORTH VANCOUVER BC. that states that its in BC, and in vancouver. all that he didnt state was the country. but you can gather from that that BC is in canada, and if not, just look at the red and white flag next to his name. there you go,......

actually I added that info after it was brought to my attention that we'd forgot to mention where they were jacked from. SOrry folks.
