Today was dark and a little bit stormy looking in Nuremburg Germany as course workers finished up the course and riders started arriving and checking things out.
The start area on the Kaiserburg high above Nuremburg. From here the riders will drop down and off the castle wall below.
The big start drop off the Kaiserburg wall, this is the Drop District.
and from the other side looking down at the giant quarter pipe...
Once you drop off the wall you hit this big quarter pipe.
After the quarter riders will be towed up a short hill by mini's to a point where they can drop into the street district. Workers put finishing touches on the street district - they even paint those things so they blend into the ancient surroundings!!!
Painters at work.
Strange spectators all over the place...
This is what life in Nurnberg will be from tomorrow on: chilling in the Biergarten, enjoying nice cold beer and watching the riders rip apart the districts - except that the weather is reported to be considerably better!! Lars and Christophe enjoying their first day in Nuremburg while workers finish up a few street obstacles in the background.
After the smaller street obstacles there is a large rainbow box. According to the event website riders can "theoretically ride over it or just jump over it"
A good soul watching over the stepup/stepdown/gap box. and the mini underneath it...
After the Street District comes the Ramp District, and the "Renner Pipe". This thing looks interesting now, I bet it will be more interesting when it's done. Any guesses on how many riders actually grind that ledge?
The combination of old city atmosphere and new street skills will be mind-blowing!!
After the "Renner Pipe" there is a colorful fruit bowl.
The "Fruit Bowl" actually looks more like a wall followed by small step down...
It would have been cool to see a timelapse of the various features coming together and getting painted...
After the ramps the riders head into the Dirt District which consists of a few 'small' jumps before riders head around the corner and into...
...the Best Trick District! A mighty drop-in awaits the completion of the quite manly big air jumps, the roll in is accessed by an elevator inside city hall.
I don't exactly get the idea behind this project though. Do they do different 'districts' over different days or specialise in one or do they all link up somehow? Cool idea though. Cool colours, colour scenery and cool features. Should be good
It sucks that I moved from there 3 years ago. But I was there to see the last one they had, it was a GREAT event. Wish I could have been there for this one too.
Pros and cons of both, atleast vienna air king requires consistency and skill to put a run together, where as here you can land sketchy in one part of the course and its not the end of the world
there are alot of bmx riders i would like to see ride this course. Dennis Enarson would tear this to pieces. It's like the dew tour street, dirt, park events just combined.
I've only seen the Nike 6.0 vid and the last two X games highlights of Dennis Enarson. Where can I see him ride anything near this big? I know the course is smooth and could probably be ridden on a bmx but, ouch! I get severe pain in my wrists and ankles just doing 4ft stair gaps on a hard tail. I don't see how they are going to ride it on just 4inch travel bikes. Most of which only get probably half travel they are pumped up so stiff. I wonder if everyone will be on hardtails? I'm sure Pilgrim and Lacondeguy will be.
Dennis Ennerson doesn't even have brakes, he does oppo trucks as his banger trick. He would not tear this apart. Frankly I'm a little disheartened he managed to qualify for due tour.
I think you have the wrong Dennis Enarson. He normally runs a gyro. He does 360 triple whips, suicide double trucks, and superman seatgrab barspins. Silver medal for both x-games park and street as well as podiuming or winning consistently in all kinds of dew tours stops. He is a very well rounded rider. Choppertank if you`ve seen the 2 year old Nike 6.0 vid then you`ve also seen the tailwhip he does at the end of his segment down into that huge floodway. The drop in at the start looks like it would be nice to have suspension on but not necessary considering how smooth and steep looking the landing is not necessary. The jumps at the end are just smaller versions of an x-games big air ramp, hardly anything you need suspension for. Everything else is just street and park ramps and from what i`ve seen in these pics the course actually looks more suited to be ridden top to bottom on a little bike with some pegs on there.
His forks are backwards?
I just can't believe!
