The North Shore Ripper Bike Fest's Adidas Eyewear Chainless DH is followed with June the 9th's Specialized Euro Enduro.

Following a wildly successful format of new school racing, riders are timed on three downhill sections of a classic Shore loop. They can get to the downhill sections however they want with the only limit that they have to get to downhill starts by a certain individually outlined time. The riders will only be timed for their descents. The 'race' is the combined time of the three descents. The spirit of the event is a great group ride with bragging rights for the DH sections.

The course map is here. Riders were timed on the classic Shore descents

- Corkscrew, Pingu, Pangor
- Severed Dick, Shorn Scrotum (new connecting trail), C-Buster, Applicator
- Bottletop

Masochists could also do an optional climb. Apparently there's a lot of people into self-flagellation as almost half the field opted to do the Specialized Ground Control Hill climb and walked away with tires.

Pictures and results from the event are here. There are more pictures in Justa Jeskova's page, Lee's Facebook set, and this Pinkbike album and Berglind's photos for the Chainless downhill and today's Euro Enduro.

Hey you armchair critics, keep in mind these folks are NOT pro riders. They're all regular folks, ranging in age from young teens to 50+ These folks were riding up and down some of BC's gnarliest trails for around 5 hours, all of which were pretty damned wet, slimey (and soupy on Severed Dick!!) after a month of solid rain. The Rippers are not an actual race, they're more about having fun, some friendly rivalry on the trails we all love, and seeing who buys the first round at the beer garden at Inter River Park afterwards!

Its a brilliant weekend of events and kudos to Sharon, James and all the sponsors and volunteers who put it all together.

Think it was easy? Come on up and do it next year!

TBH I'm too stoked about fort bill this weekend to care about this haha

xc lid and dual crowns also look weird... but hey he was there so he probably had a better idea of what to put an the time than we do.

Well, if Gwin does it, it MUST be great.

That was an awesome weekend of racing with a really great, laid back vibe. I find I get bored at DH races because you spend most of your weekend standing about waiting for shuttles or waiting for your race run. This was like riding all weekend with the added bonus of some friendly rivalry. Huge thanks to all the volunteers and organisers for putting all the effort in.

  • 3 0
 yes i only have one

There are climbs (not timed) and descents (timed). Of course many will run All Mountain rigs, but some will ride the bike that offers the possibility of the best results for the timed sections. It is racing after all.
