Coast Gravity Park Announces Opening Date!

Apr 8, 2014

From the inception of this project we knew we were embarking on a long and challenging road. As we sit now we are still nowhere near the end of that road. We have learned many things along the way, gone through ups and downs, fought doubt, and sacrificed our bodies to move mountains of loam and dirt. But this dream is not all about us, it’s about you - the mountain bike community. It is because of you that we were able to get here.

Coast Gravity Park lives by a pretty simple rule – For riders by riders. This is the most amazing thing about this project – the support. With no major outside investment or support other than from our Indiegogo supporters, we were able to build the park out to where it is today. From skill building green trails to expert level jump trails we have something for everyone to come and enjoy.

The Coast Park is huge for Sechelt and for the sport of mountain biking in BC in general. I really hope we as a community of riders can make it a success and see similar projects springing up around the province. To the Coastal Crew: thanks for putting so much sweat equity into this project, all the hard work is worth it!

Yeah, I hope this puts a whole bunch of tourism money into Sechelt... They've been struggling.

Already bought a vacant lot down the road from the park to build a vacation place on! I hope this thing goes HUGE!

So cool to see how many trails have already been built. How long did it take to get 4 trails at the stevens pass bike park again?

i wonder what kind of chairlift they bought?
3 man? 4 man?

will the chairlift be running on opening day?
  • 3 1
If you read the article it says that they will be running shuttles for opening day and days to come, that's why you need to book in advance. And party @yellowdogx?
  • 2 0
I dont think there is a chairlift yet? Im assuming you have to shuttle with your truck?

all they need to do now is get the motorcross track as an official track and sechelt will have all the tourism it could want

It says on like the 2nd line under the video that they will be providing a shuttle service for now.
  • 4 0
uhh, did you watch the video? Shuttle service for 2014...

I was replying to his question, was still waiting for the video to buffer, sorry guys guess I jumped the gun

I feel bad for so many areas of the world that don't have he access to the amazing network of trails all around BC. I've lived here all my life, and wish that everyone could experience what some of the mountain biking scene here takes for granted!
  • 2 0
could we have one in the north east coast of Scotland? that'd be great thanks

@Yellowdogx I have a crap load of tool and 20 years experience in residential construction. Fully insured carpentry business. I am looking to relocate. Let's get building!

Holy Mary mother of God. I'm so glad I'm saving up for my wedding rather than going there. Well, that's what my lady thinks anyway.
  • 7 0
I guess she's not a mountain biker otherwise she'd be stoked to have her wedding on the Sunshine Coast. It is a beautiful place, perhaps a honeymoon at least? Wink
  • 5 0
No she's not, to be honest I wouldn't want a lady who was an MTBer- I like to have my own space! You've definitely had a good idea with the honeymoon tho! I like that idea A LOT!!!

If anyone puts brake bumps in this park before I get there I will personally hunt them down. Consider this your warning
  • 13 0
Where the hell is the landing for the jump which launches off the back of that boat???

I agree with what Rheeder said, It was the most fun I had on my bike all season without a doubt, so stoked to go back. The best way I can describe the "Coastal Cruise" and the Blue trail is that they feel like your riding a roller coaster haha.

I want to go there one day
  • 2 0
probably said this before - but should organise a pinkbike crew to all meet up at this location. I've already got Queenstown and Whistler on my to do list, should really add this for sure

definitely on my bucket list to ride this beautiful park in the near future. the crew spent so many days crafting perfection. looks amazing!!!!

Soo manynquestions---I've never been to the sunshine coast....does anyone know anything about lodging or camping nearby? Does the town have any food or is it just a grocery store? Do you HAVE to book days, you can't just show up,I assume? I supported the initial fundraising campaign so already have my four lift tickets but not sure if I need to make reservations or what. And to anyone that's ridden there...... I don't think me and my dudes are ready to hit the big "Coastal Cruise" line,so would we get bored with the other 3 runs or is it still worth it to come already? Trying to decide if we should wait for more trails to open or what. Thanks in advance.

sunshine coast is an awesome place to go spend a weekend, quaint little town, you have your basic food, gas, grocery, bike shop in town, lots of places to camp from campgrounds to rv resorts as they like to call them, people are friendly, really laid back personality. Lots to do, I usually bring the mtn bike and the mx bike and ride the track one day and the trails the next

It's amazing bike park ! New life style!

I love seeing people take pride in their work, and this park looks like the epitome of proud trail builders. All that work and dedication to give back to their community, spot on fellas, well done!!!
  • 1 0
Awesome work guys! The trails look sick and the amount of work done must be insane, that's dedication and passion right there. I'll definitely give it a try this summer and give some sort of contribution to support this. And as always, sick camera work and edit from the crew. Really like the spinning camera that catches the 3 riders one after another, that's awesome.

I wish I knew what to expect from the trails. I'm only a couple rides back from injury and want to hit this place up in May. If I can keep the wheels in the dirt, I feel comfortable going. If its a lot of mandatory airs, I'm not so sure.

Thank you for all the choices we have to ride awesome trails in bc!! Come all of you from around the world. Take part in riding this new park. Especially riders from Norway who need to take a ferry ride just to get to trails. Life is full of choices. Where you live and where you ride.

On a more practical note for those of us lucky enough to be able to go soon - has anyone else tried to book on the website? I've tried and it doesn't seem to be working...?!
  • 1 0
Take a look at the amount of trails there are --> www.coastgravitypark.ca/trails by the time I got to the Coastal cruise, my heart was gonna explode from the high heart rate!!! The place is off tap!

I have said it since I saw the CC segment in Kranked 8, but Curtis Robinson is such a stylish rider. He is such a badass on the trail it blows my mind. Never get tired of watching the magic unfold.

I hope that the trails are going to be top to bottom without to many intersections.
I just hate having a good flow (for once) down a trail and then having to stop or merge to keep going on a totally different kind of trail.
