by Pinkbike Staff
Rachel Atherton and Danny Hart took victory at the 2015 British Cycling National Mountain Bike Downhill Championships in Llangollen on Sunday, beating off world-class competition from Manon Carpenter and Sam Dale respectively.

Current UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Downhill leader Atherton took her fourth consecutive senior championship women’s win by five seconds over Madison Saracen Factory Team’s Carpenter, with Katy Curd taking bronze a further two seconds adrift, in dusty conditions in North Wales.

2011 World Champion Danny Hart had a closer run for the title in the senior championships men’s event, with just six tenths of a second separating him from silver medallist Sam Dale. Ruaridh Cunningham took bronze one-tenth of a second further back, with the top four separated by less than a second.

There were no surprises in the junior men’s event with Laurie Greenland, currently second in the world cup standings, beating Neil Stewart by over four seconds to take the title, with Frazer McCubbing close behind for bronze.

Cairngorm CC’s Elena Melton took the junior women’s title ahead of Aston Tutt and Rona Strivens.

I love looking at those results to see who's still doing it.

I often think I should have another crack at racing following a disastrous attempt about 15 years ago, and then I see that Kye Forte is in my category and think, nah, sod it.

I recently thought the same thing after not racing for 15 years. Did a race and fell off in practice breaking my finger and ruining my weekend. Finished 6th out of 33 in my category come race day so was quite pleased. HOWEVER I decided to race national champs last weekend and once again fell off in practice. This time though I dislocated my shoulder and cracked the ball of the socket. Was out of its socket for 2 hours until the hospital knocked me out and put it back in. Cracked a rib too so I would say thats the end of racing

yea, and number two was stuck behind number three for half the course! I was watching her screaming "rider, rider" for about 300 yards as she tried to get past.
