1st Single-Speed DH Race @ Bootleg

Event organizers say the USA Cycling Nevada State DH Championship is shaping up bigger than any race they have put on yet! Adding the World's 1st Single-Speed DH race contributes to the excitement!Downhill Mike was stoked to say "Sponsors have been showing a tremendous amount of support, and we are expecting this event to be more like a Interbike Outdoor Demo, but with competitive racing!"

The official event website: www.downhillmike.com has been updated constantly with everything you will need to know about this Championship Event.

1 new non USA Cycling Category has just been added to the Presidents Day Weekend list of competitive festivities:

Canfield Brothers presents the Worlds 1st Open Single-Speed DH. Important: Be sure to check out the FAQ tab on the event website for specific details for this unique category.

A note from Chris Canfield:
I'll have rear Derailleur cables at sign-up for anyone registering for this- That way you will not need any replacement parts to find after the race to convert back.
I will also be on hard to help people convert over-

Really easy-

1- pull out your derailleur cable.

2- cut it about 6" long.

3- Run the cable with the metal stop end-(the ball in the shifter) into your derailleur.

4- Run the cable like normal and lock it on the gear you want.

That's It!

After the race- just replace the cable with the new one from registration and you're back to normal.

As of this update event t-shirts are still available for those that pre-register.

I know at least one local that has been rocking a SS DH rig for at least a few years, at least if he attends he won't have to cut any cables.

I'll say it right now, this category has been around for some time with the CCCX DH Series. Makes for an interesting race.

WOW this looks epic! its all about chain-less downhill though!

There is a chainless and a single-speed dh. However, those are more "for fun" races and do not count towards USAC rankings.

The main dh event is USA Cycling sanctioned and will be the 1st qualifier in 2011 for the Nationals. Then we have a super d race. 4 different races on Presidents Day Weekend at Bootleg.

See ya at the race!
