The Sombrio Duster jersey - Flashback!

Sombrio's Duster jersey takes old school graphics and colors and mixes them with modern materials and a cut that makes sense for today's shredders. At first glance the moto-esque Duster looks to be your standard full sleeve DH jersey that offers more protection than a cooler short sleeved option, but at the price of making the wearer much hotter. Once up close its easier to see the lightweight and breathable mesh material that lets the air pass through and the heat escape.

The Duster uses a full mesh body to keep you cool on hot days, especially for a long sleeved jersey

Sombrio Duster jersey details

  • Sombrio FRD fit

bigquotesThe New Duster Jerseys have wandered away from Sombrio's mellower more earthy colours and have landed somewhere in between the movie Rad Racers and a mid-eighties motocross kit. They are super breathable, most comparable to TLD's Air line, but can still take some gnarly crashes without making you look like a resident of a Hastings street side alley. - Adam Mantle

Sombrio Charger short

photo
Sombrio's Charger short

Following the same design cues as the Duster jersey, the Charger short combines style from days gone by with modern fabrics and sturdy construction. Made from nylon, the Charger uses multiple four-way stretch panels that allow for greater flexibility than if standard materials were used, but Sombrio has also incorporated a seamless crotch, bar tack stitching, and burly seam construction as well. You'll find both belt loops and Velcro waist adjustment tabs that let you fine tune the fit depending on the particular season and whether you have a winter holiday gut or summer abs. There is only one pocket to be found on the Charger, a zippered number on the rear that is big enough for a wallet. If you put your hands down into the Charger short (while not wearing them, obviously) you'd discover a soft and airy vented liner that should keep everything South of your waistline a bit fresher on those hot or muggy days on the bike.

Velcro tabs let you adjust the fit and a burly two snap design is used for the waist enclosure

Sombrio charger short details

  • Sombrio FRD fit
  • Four way stretch inserts
  • Distressed vintage logos
  • Mesh lined
  • Zippered back pocket and wicking bag
  • Seamless crotch panel
  • 500 Denier Cordura
  • Colors: Yellow (shown), black
  • Sizes: youth 10, 12, 14 and adult small, medium, large, X large, XX large
  • MSRP $105.00 CAD

Just a single small zippered pocket on the race inspired Charger short

bigquotesUnlike many other riding shorts, the new "Race Fit" accommodates racers and Freeriders who like to run their seats a touch bit higher. With these new shorts, gone are the days of catching the seat on the top of your inseam. If you have ever done this while moving at speed you know what I am talking about and just how scary it can be. They fit slightly large - I'm 6' and have a 34" waist and would regularly wear a large, but the new Charger size Medium fits perfect with the large being too big, so keep that in mind. - Adam Mantle

Sombrio Highline short

Sombrio Highline short

If you are looking for something a bit different, the Highline short may fit the bill. These shorts have a slightly longer than average cut that extends past the knee, along with a clean look that gives them a simple and understated appearance. The Highline's are at home on the bike due to their four-way stretch fabric and seamless crotch, but they are casual enough to wear to the pub for post ride brews or out and about on the town. You'll find two side pockets, each with two compartments, as well as a small zippered back stash pocket that is big enough to fit keys or cards, (but not most wallets). Each leg sports mesh lined and zippered thigh vents that you can open on warm days to keep the air flowing.

Sombrio Highline short details

  • Sombrio Epik fit
  • Four way stretch fabric
  • DWR finish and soft inner face
  • Velcro adjust waistband
  • Mesh lined thigh vents
  • Backstash pocket with zipper
  • Front hand pockets
  • Seamless crotch panel
  • Colors: Charcoal (shown), black
  • Sizes:small, medium, large, X large, XX large
  • MSRP $105.00 CAD

bigquotesI've been wearing the Highline's on and off the bike nearly nonstop and am impressed with how comfortable they are. I like the long cut as the legs don't get pulled up when riding, but do keep in mind that some may find the inseam a touch long. When the thigh vents are open they tend to bunch up and catch on things, but I hardly open them anyways. The hand pockets are kept closed with button snaps, one of which pulled out soon after I began wearing the Highline's. - Mike Levy

Sombrio Jackal glove

photo
Sombrio Jackal glove in royal blue

Sombrio has a glove lineup that spans the range from fully padded to water resistant, to the minimalist Jackal that is shown here. I personally far prefer a glove with a palm that is as thin as possible and the Jackal didn't disappoint. The single layer, one piece stretch maxkin palm is as thin as anyone could ever want, but the high wear area between the index finger and thumb features an overlay to improve long term durability. The top of the hand gets a bit more protection in the form of abrasion resistant corded nylon and you'll find a soft Terry cotton wipe on the thumb. A small Velcro tab at the wrist makes putting on and taking the gloves off a bit easier. Easily the most important technical feature of the Jackal are the dual mustaches that you'll spot on the middle and index fingers. Depending on how the ride is going, you can choose to sport either a classy miniature handlebar job, or some thin and slightly creepy french pencil whiskers.

Sombrio Jackal glove details

  • Top hand made from abrasion resistant corded nylon
  • Adjustable wirst closure
  • Stretch Maxkin palm
  • Velcro adjust waistband
  • Mustache silicone print on 1st and 2nd finger
  • One piece palm
  • Terry cotton soft wipe
  • Seamless crotch panel
  • Colors: royal blue (shown), black, burgundy, twilight
  • Sizes:youth, small, medium, large, X large, XX large
  • MSRP $30.00 CAD

bigquotesIn my opinion Sombrio has always made some of the nicest fitting gloves, as well as looking great. The Jackal doesn't disappoint. - Mike Levy

No comment on quality or anything, but $70 for a jersey? Really? Seems about $25 overpriced. Call me ghetto, but for what it's worth, I'll ride in a hockey practice jersey for $20.

I was about to comment on the price of the jersey, but you beat me to it. $70 is way too much for a jersey. Add in the mesh material and the increased chances of shreading it like swiss cheese when you fall will keep me away from purchasing it.

But overall I do like the looks of the clothing.

Swiss cheese, my thoughts exactly. I've shredded through jerseys with much heavier material.

build quality isnt that good. pockets and seams are the things ive had go most. the hoodies are good tho, got a zip and normal ones that must be 4 years old and still going strong. the treeboot graphic is still one of the best designs ever fact.

Has Sombrio's stitching improved? They can't possibly get any worse could they? Their gloves from two three years ago would blow apart at the seams. Good for a month or so and thereafter - disposable

Sombrio makes really good products. I would reccomend their stuff to anyone.

I like that Sombrio is getting into race wear. The stuff from TLD and Fox is pretty lame this year. This stuff is retro cool and bright, good for racing. But I've not had the best luck with Sombrio quality and fit...got a pair of shorts and the zipper doesn't line up with the buttons, so they are always unzipping themselves. If you look at the zoomed in shot of the buttons/zipper on the Charger shorts, you can see it's the same...come on Sombrio, get it together!

man I own this kit and I have not had any problems at all with the zipper, works perfect

Sombrio shorts are too fitted! It's fine if you make a style or two that are fitted, but it would be nice if they had a baggy option like the old Roach Rally DH 3/4!!!

Those highline shorts look like you can't even fit kneepads in them!

I got the gloves, after 5 rides I got a big hole on both of the gloves here's the picture... www.pinkbike.com/photo/5599070

Apparently, most mtb gloves don't have enough reinforcement and end up like that ^^ my suggestion is going for better stuff from mx brands like answer and thor. My pair of answer gloves held up 3 years now and the single hole they got is because of a seam come loose, therefore fixable by putting a new piece of thread. Now, that's durability.

Hockey Jersey? Let me guess you also ride in just body armour with no shirt with your beer gut hanging out. Just kidding buddy but hockey jerseys are for hockey. We are all part of one of the coolest sports in the world, I hate to say it but we need to look the part to get our sport more support. Sombrio make amazing stuff that lasts forever. I have sombrio shorts and jerseys that are 4 seasons old and look amazing.

If I suggested wearing a hockey jersey, why would I turn around and ride shirtless? And I'm not suggesting everyone wear a hockey jersey, I just think $70 seems like a lot of dough for a bike jersey, regardless of quality. And you're comments about needing to look the part to represent the sport are just silly. I represent me. I don't represent a sport, and I certainly don't represent any brands. That's what "paid" athletes are for.
