not true... turn them round again and cycle them through the travel a few times nd there fine... its actually good for forks in some cases, when the seals have become dry, turning them over helps the red rum to work into the seals a bit better.
Yeah my mate got told to hold his Fox 40's upside down for 2 mins at the start of a run to make them that much plusher on the way down... as if they could get any more plush!
no not any poor dedication what so ever. its called owning multiple bikes. and no i do ride hard but im not the biggest of guys.. also ive been a mechanic for 4 years now and i know a thing or two about setting up a suspension fork. simply just wasnt impressed with these forks. its my opinion and i dont need to hear what you have to say accusing me of not knowing how to set up a fork or claim i have poor dedication to such a sport.
if thats the case then its fine by me, but i just hate it wen peeps degrade perfectly good kit wen they dont really know a thing about it/ hav set it up wrong, and the poss of u ownin more than one bike didnt pop into my head wen i replied cos i was a bit peed.. soz
neway, ur comment "and ride ontario dh maybee 5 times a summer." gave the impression u dont ride much... nd anyways, ive heard enough good about totems to believe otherwise, and have seen plenty of them in use, and comments hav always been positive... u may hav a fualty model or sumthin, but tbh its not a big deal if ur not lyin
well their going in for warrenty again.. im not gona lie they are one of the niccest feeling forks ever and look super nice. they function really nicely although i just had some issues with some mad fork play and crown and steer creaking. this happeneds to many sc forks after 3 to 4 years use i was just surprised it happened so fast.
yeah i have been at a bike shop since 15? why are u so surprised? and yes i had them sent in and it was the steerer tube and crown assembly... i know my shit.
my point is that you claim to have been a MECHANIC for four years, i have no problem with the idea that you work in a shop and have done for that time, but being hired AS A MECHANIC at 15?? Likely...? no. Any mechanics qualifications at 15? not likely. THAT's my point.
mechanic qualifications? its a bike shop man. you learn from the job and from co workers. i dont have any papers or anything like that to say im a bike mechanic. i just have the experience and skills learnt from four years at a bike shop..
nooo, many peeps get mechanic qualifications before becoming a mechanic as bike shops have to be able to trust u to get it right... usually they care that much about customers bikes...
maybe in your country... everyone i know who works over here in shops in canada have learn t the skills along the way with help from experience and co workers. im sure i could fix a bike just as well as a trained pro mechanic.
so you don't have trained mechanics? And at 15 you had picked up this "mechanic" level experience from where? NO shop will take you on AS A MECHANIC with no experience. look mate i don't care that you could fix a bike just as well as a pro mechanic. I could. I could quite easily handle any problem that could arise with any of my own bikes, or indeed many of my mates; given the correct tools. The point is that mechanics have experience and training in ANY bike. Our mechanic could quite happily take any bike in the world, and correct remove and reinstall any part on it. ANYTHING bike related, he can fix it or build it, and would most likely know where or from who to get any of the parts necessary for it. THAT is something you don't simply "learn from the job and from co workers" out of the blue. Give me a break, everyone who works in a real bike shop knows how to do certain repairs etc. because most of them ride, but that does NOT make you a mechanic. Nice try though (any by no means am i saying you dont appear to know your stuff; i'm saying you clearly arent and havent been a trained mechanic for 4 years)
im really confuzed. ive been working on bikes for 4 years? meaning ive been a bike mechanic for 4 years? simply said i have 4 years bike experience? i dont see where this made u feel the need to make a write up on me? you must be really bored. get out a ride
no mate its 35 minutes past 12 (at night/morning whichever you feel is more grammatically correct) my exact point is that working in a bike shop is not being a bike mechanic (and thats exactly what you're repeatedly trying to say) end of.
thats about all those things are worth.... really not happy with my totems. theive been sent in for two rebuilts already both times with worn out sliders and creaking crown and steerer.
by the way im only 134lbs and ride ontario dh maybee 5 times a summer.
either u've set them up wrong, u're doing some seriously gnarly riding (still doesn't account for the 5 times a summer... pretty poor dedication), or u're lying
if you worked at a bike shop you would know that u would uninstall the fork and apply pressure on the fork when having the steerer in a vice to listen for creeking. eliminates the headset factor. and many other possible creeks.
2008 was a bad year for totems. my friend had an 08 and he sent it back to rockshox and they gave him an 09 for free. the whole fork including the internals were kinda sketchy in 08
ya theres one like this but they use a marz and whats missing is the lever needs to be avid for flushing and the seat need to be a 24inch single track rim
aperently it ruins ure forks
i dunno
