Video: Pretty Good For 10-Year-Olds

by Freeride Entertainment

Freeride mountain bikers Matt Hunter and Darren Berrecloth are celebrating their 10-year anniversary as riders in the Specialized family. Although they've ridden all over the world, and are both from British Columbia, the guys rarely spend time shredding together. To celebrate their decade aboard Specialized bikes, Matt and Darren teamed up with photographer Sterling Lorence to capture more of the iconic imagery which propelled them to their legendary status.

I was preparing myself for some 10yr old shredders who are better than me, but this was much better! Brings a whole cool side to the Claw and Hunter that they would go to all this effort to thank their sponsors!

Awesome video. I do get a kick out of the fact that no matter where people are from, they claim that their own home stomping ground is 'the birthplace of freeride'. It's like the whole chicken/egg debate, or who invented snowboarding - Tom Sims or Jake Burton Carpenter. Who cares. There was no one single 'birthplace of freeride'; it was a movement that happened everywhere when things naturally progressed that way.

Dear Pinkbike, Your title was extremely misleading and I really don't appreciate that. You owe me a video of two 10 year olds shralping the brown pow, or atleast shredding the gnar. Thank You.

I cant believe no one has complained about this being a specialized promo. I'm not dissing on them at all, I dig specialized but im in disbelief. By the way I used to think living in California was cool until I started spending my nights on PB. BC seems to be the place to be.

I think it's one thing to post a video produced by a brand, and another to post what appears to be an informative article that ends up essentially being a marketing piece. In other words, Specialized clearly produced the vid, though where their influence ends and PB's editorial voice and journalism begins is less obvious. The latter is, I believe, what gives us pause...

It isn't a promo, it is two legends thanking for 10 years of support.

Hey can someone explain to me what exactly Matt hunter does? I know he can shred but he doesn't race or compete is he just a brand ambassador for specialized?
  • 3 0
He has been in almost every bike vid since the collective...He is my favourite rider because he is not a race or compete.. To me he represents what mountain biking is to most people.. Getting out there and shreddin bikes however you want whenever you want.. true free spirit that guy...Short form YES an ambassador of the sport really..
  • 1 0
Exactly. I just love the fact that he's not in it for the competitions. He's having fun riding, and he shares this passion in mags, videos and interviews. And on top of that he is totally down to earth... By far my favourite rider, if there is such a thing.
  • 1 0
Down to earth, big adventures, earns his descents. This guy goes out and rides... climbs up, rides around, rides down. Full on skill, fitness, humility, loving life. Hunter is the man.

 pretty good?!
