2011 marks the third year of the Maxxis-Rocky Mountain partnership. The team makes its official 2011 debut this weekend at the first World Cup of 2011 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.Returning to the team is cross-country mountain bike icon, Geoff Kabush. The two time Olympian, World Cup winner, and holder of the record for all-time US series cross-country and short track wins is targeting World Cup podiums in 2011, building steadily to the London 2012 Olympics. Kabush commented, “We have a great support staff and sponsors behind us and it’s great to know that all I have to do is ride my bike and everything will be taken care of.”

Marie-Hélène Prémont, Olympic Silver Medalist in Athens 2004, winner of 2008 World Cup overall title, and multiple World Cup winner is gunning for World Cup wins on the way to Olympic team selection for 2012. The Chateau-Richer, Quebec native has just finished her pharmacy degree and is still digging out from a long and snowy winter, but her track record proves she has all the tools to stand on top of the podium.

The winner of the 2009 and 2010 World Cup DH Overall Titles, Sabrina Jonnier will be going for three in a row with the ultimate goal of the World Championships in Champery, Switzerland where she hopes to regain the World Champ stripes she’s worn three times in the past. The 29 year old French rider is one of the most accomplished World Cup DH racers of all time and is showing no signs of slowing down.

New to Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain for 2011, is 2007 Junior World DH Champion Ruaridh Cunningham. The young Scot battled through a serious knee injury in the 2008 and 2009 season and showed glimpses of his world caliber talent in 2010 when he placed 10th at the Champery World Cup and 19th at the World Championships at Mont St. Anne. With a big season of off-season training behind him, Ruaridh is confident 2011 will be his best season to date.

Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain has always prioritized racing in both pro cross-country and downhill, but this year the team has also taken on UK Junior DH racer, Mark Scott as a development rider. Scott won last weekend’s British Downhill Series race in Moelfre. “Our team has a tight family feel and we feel it’s the ideal environment for cultivating young talent”, commented Rocky Mountain’s Sports Marketing Manager, Peter Vallance. “We’ve had great success developing riders into World Cup podium contenders and we’re really looking forward to working with Mark.”

Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain is one of the few World Cup teams that compete in both cross-country and downhill racing and the only team to win World Cups in both disciplines in the last three years. Maxxis-RMB team members have stood on the podium in both men’s and women’s XC World Cups and men’s and women’s DH World Cups. The team participates globally in a wide range of events beyond the World Cup circuit; such as XC stage racing, marathon XC, Super D, and Mega Avalanche events.
