Emanuel what u on with?.::: X Games Munich Slopestyle finals are delayed until 20:00 CET due to high winds. But the riders are stoked and the crowd is awesome!
Anyone else find that all the coverage of slopestyle is non-informing? Wouldn't they want to do as much as possible to make sure that a new event gets lots of attention?!
Sorge does some. This kind of course gives the guys like Sorge & Zink who don't do anything but the most basic, rudimentary tricks a chance to do some damage because the big stuff can potentially give them a bit of an edge.
Their flips & 3's always look good on the huge stuff though, it's just not enough in this day & age. The consistent & versatile competitors go just as big, but they do so much more. Action sports are temporary professions & some of these guys are runnin' out of time. It is my opinion that they've been loitering for too long already.
Yea wtf? Case the step up then most of the people in the amertuers were over shooting the jump next to operating table, then loads of pedaling just about everywhere. Xgames FTW
@Scott, If it's true slopestyle, why should they be pedaling on a slope? Like in another comment you said you need a hill to have a slope course, but why should they be pedaling if there is a hill? The Bearclaw Invitational course or even the Red Bull Joyride course (for some riders) didn't have pedaling, just brake checks. I feel this course lacked flow... alot..
adam- again there was adverse weather the whole time they were competing and since Darren was one of the advisers on the course, along with the same dude who built Berg, I think they did a pretty good job considering a course had never been built on that spot before... or at the very least a course of that magnitude. Honestly I think break-checking in-between features is a tad sketchier than pedaling... or at the very least equally the same because you're changing speed while going down the run.
When are they going to learn to not build such ridiculous drops yes they might be high but people do less risky tricks off them and shows get canceled postponed or what they are considering now cutting the course in half ... its sad. the fmb is not very consistent.
agreed, i dont care for BIG HUGE stuff, leave that fore the guys at rampage or video edits, for slopestyle i always saw it about the tricks, yes, descent sized jumps are needed but MASSSSSIVE ones liker this are killing the style
mak, you may not care for the big huge stuff, but the rest of the world does, so that's just tough shit for you. As far as killing the style, there has never been more style in the sport. If you think that we're going to ride big bikes with suspension & gears on hillsides over little baby BMX jumps & the world won't continue to laugh at us like the dorks we all once were then maybe you should go back to playing with your friend Jesus & leave the bike riding up to the men. Stephen Murray jacked himself worse than anyone on a little kids bike. It can happen anywhere, anytime. We all know the risks. This is what makes a pro, a pro. If these guys rode the same pussy little shit that you do, they'd be nothing more than you are. Holy f*ck, FMX guys double flip 250 pound motor bikes over bigger jumps than on this course. Wind sucks & can make things unrideable, it postpones FMX events & BMX events too. It is not a reason to go back to being a bunch of pussies. If you wanna be a pussy, then go play hockey or football or something.
Killing the style of those who don't have the skill, cause Rheeder and Semenuk have shown plenty of skill and style on the big HUGE stuff, them other dudes need to step there games up or get out the kitchen
Freeride-forever, you assume that MTB is just about showing who have the bigest dick...
Watching so many riders uneasy on this contest was boring in my opinion
Lolo, I don't assume anything. This is actions sports, that's what ACTION SPORTS are about. Vert riders ride outside in the wind, FMX riders ride outside in the wind & it may tone down the level of riding, but it doesn't mean that courses should be built for pussies in case it's windy. It was absolutely a boring contest because there were only 2 riders competing, everyone else was just surviving. Even on the small stuff there was little to nothing getting done. Rheeder & Semenuk rode like professionals. Everyone else was amateur & at least 3 riders, Zink, McGarry & Berrecloth don't even belong there. I'd say Sorge doesn't either because he's basically Zink but doesn't crash as much. 1990's skillsets don't belong in 2013 contests & it shows in those 4 riders. One big move on these courses is not going to continue to be competitive. WTF was Pilgrim's problem? Where the f*ck is Mike Montgomery? He can pack more into 1 run than half the invites to this contest could put into 1000 hits on an indoor resi. These riders are supposed to be versatile & but they all did more or less the same thing. Soderstrom was the only one that hit the operating table. Was that thing too big? Was it too windy out there for it? There was something going on inside everyones heads that didn't belong there. The (2) guys that have the skills & put their heads in the right place rode a contest. WTF's the difference between those 2 & the rest who were just there, basking in the limelight, making an appearance & very poorly going through the motions? RHEEDER & SEMENUK REPRESENT!!!!
@freeride-forever ... well put. I was there, watching the qualification and the finals, genon looked scared, pilgrim apparently hurt his leg, my bet is he pussied out aswell. when told it was too windy, rheeder still rode the course 4 times, including the big drops, I had the impression he was pissed that no one else rode it... in my opinon it´s not been the wind. if someone can backflip the first drop on top of the course or three it than it is not to windy. someone else is either just not good enough or to scared. and concerning pilgrim, if the leg story is true, I just don´t get it, you have the invitation to be competing in the first ever mtb event at xgames? and you go hurt yourself surfing the day before? at eisbach? you f*cking moron! if you wanna hurt yourself do it the day after.
guys, leave the personal stuff out, im not worthy of your poison keyboard freeride-forever, i aint dissing no one but my god i thought bike boards would not suffer them same vile attacks as other places on the web - but seems there are complete a-holes no matter where you go - shame - freeride-forever i bow to your superior sized gnads !!!!!!
Yes it is great to see people jump from great height's (shock factor) but it is also cool to see people get tech by doing multiple tricks like a bar to whip or whatever and when the jumps are so big you don't get that because the riders are more concentrated on surviving.. i like both but i also like to see the riders having fun.
I really dont like the course, maybe people like to watch big jumps, but what about the riders? It is not about "I ll go and do the best tricks I can" it is about "I ll go and I ll try to survive".We can expect so many crashes as at the last Crankworx in Whistler I think. Another disadvantage is,that the almost whole course is build on a hill, where are no trees or something to stop the wind, for example, take the start gate. Why the creators didnt count with wind? ..I understand why Pilgrim decided not to ride.
Rheeder and Semenuk don't seem to be having any problems with the course, Gold and Silver are all but taken at this point, its a fight for Bronze as I don't see anyone coming close to Rheeder or Semenuk,
Full qualifying video right here, the riders who seem the most comfortable seem to be the versatile riders who can do it all, big MTN/DJ/SS. The HT/DJ only riders are having a hard time with the big course. TOP 6 qualifiers are all on Slopestyle D/S bikes, this is what slopestyle is all about, people are always asking for bigger, bigger, bigger, well here you have it, its a not perfect course by any means, requires some pedaling but Rheeder,Semenuk and a few others are not having any issues and actually ripping the course to pieces so I am not sure why Sam hates it,...
So sad that both McCaul's crashed out. WTF!
That course seemed to not be very good for letting guys really let loose. It was kind of... stick to the basics and don't crash. If you're still on the rubber at the end... go big.
Seems to me that there was a lot of that at many of the events at this XGames. They need to stop going bigger and bigger just so people go... damn that's big. I want to actually see guys pull off more tricks with more style. I'm glad they've brought slopestyle mtb in... hopefully it'll be better next time.
Pump for the Claw,..big course, big drops, big jumps suit his style, you really gotta be well rounded to ride this course which is why allot of these DJ specific riders are having trouble,.....good to see they didn't make another straight dj course were no real skillz are required. Props xgames
No it isn't false. Hmm...Well this text is copied from his official FB page: "Sorry to disappoint you guys but I won't be in the finals of the xGames, I hated the course and I decided not to ride well in finals. If your not having fun don't do it........" and then he commented on his own status after that "Qualifiers I mean!" So yes, he rode the qualis but didn't ride well because he didn't want to. I didn't say anything about that he wouldn't have ridden the qualification runs.
i agree the course doesnt look the greatest, but there are alot of people not riding that would have loved to have competed in the x games, i think he still should have made the most of the opportunity.

The German sites don't work, i found this link, hopefully it will be streamed here.
The show was terrible
and concerning pilgrim, if the leg story is true, I just don´t get it, you have the invitation to be competing in the first ever mtb event at xgames? and you go hurt yourself surfing the day before? at eisbach? you f*cking moron! if you wanna hurt yourself do it the day after.
On a full artifical run it's just boring and make unknowing people laugh. Oh wait ! It's because they are all groms (thanks to Kyle-White)
