VERY IMPRESSIVE, MAKES YOU THINK NOTHING THESE DAYS IN TV/CINEMA IS NATURAL

Yup, thanks. I still strongly belive in doing thing in-camera, like with all our bike videos (and especially Life Cycles), that is how you can truely be a good cameraman or 'visionary'.

life cycles was colour "corrected" to some extent.. everything has a "feel" or a "tone" to it and you NEED colour correcting to match that tone or feel throughout. anything professionally done would and should be. obviously not to this extent, as if to completely change the image (sick job, by the way, i'm jealous).

well, you don't NEED to, but no big well done BMX or mountain bike video i've seen has ditched colour correcting.

YES you are correct. What I meant by 'in-camera' is that things were captured as the way they are, not like digital set replacements or what I did which is what I would call 'VFX clean-up'.

 yeah, i figured as much!
what program did you use for this?
after effects? avid?

Plus mtb/bmx/dj stuff really doesn't call for stuff like that. What will be used however is gradients for example, take a landscape shot that has over exposed white sky, and drop a nice subtle blue gradient on it and such small stuff like that makes a load of a difference.

Honestly you can if you want go crazy with Avid's Color corrector and spot color effect paired with in-house motion tracking and seriously mimic customized looks like what you would get in Magic Bullet, all except those 'beach bypass' looks.

This is Avid Media Composer 5.0. The difference between the newest 5.0 version and the previous 4.0/3.5 versions is that all the effects that I used to create what you saw above are now in real-time. Color correction and image stabilization (which was not used) has always been real-time, and very fast.

Even if you had to render effects, when in edit mode it would play in near real-time depending on the effect.
