ShastaOutdoorMedia - Snowmobiles are very loud, but if you think about it, whos there to hear it? Most of the time your in the middle of nowhere, your not by any houses or anything! Your usually just with the group that your riding with or the other people that are on the mountain, and none of those people care because they are all there to ride.

ShastaOutdoorMedia - You know it's people like bikers, snowmobilers and hunters who lobby for the preservation of nature right? Also, shuttling up a hill for a dh run isn't much different from dirt biking or snowmobiling except that lots of people who shuttle are doing it in their 5.9L cummins turbo diesel instead of going up the hill on less than a 1 litre engine.

You're right about the gas aspect, but can't they make snowmobiles that DON'T sound like a jet engine (I know that people think it sounds cooler but it's totally annoying and lame)?????

not really, they use 2 stroke engines for the most part and they are louder due to the engine type and the expansion chamber.
