I love mountain biking, I love watching videos, but man what is with everyone trying to destroy every berm and corner these days by skidding.

I always have ridden the ride don't slide mantra, but now it seems if you leave the trail in good shape, you didn't "shred"?

forms good ruts and ruts are waaay more fun than burms
  • + 4
Not to mention that trail would be hard to ride without sliding. And yah, ruts can be fun sometimes if they dont turn into creek beds. All my personal hidden trails have ruts in them.

Yea I get it, it's fun. I like to ride as fast as I can, sliding happens when you do that. The trend however seems to be sliding to look cool rather than enhancing speed. I guess it is the bike park influence where it is no big deal if you trash the trails.

Several of them I'd call fish tails rather than skids as they were done on straights for no apparent reason other than trying to look cool. Intentionally fish tailing on a straightaway doesn't make you go faster, it slows you down. Silly rabbits, skids are for squids.

@Bomadics, I created berms by skidding, I'm practically a berm guru..

It's always faster with the right sound.

 Perfect song choice!

I like rock, but I try to avoid listening to it during riding. It makes me risk too much, so I keep searching for calm pieces for the very riding and save the last power melody for the time I spend putting on bike clothes, pads, shoes, gloves and checking the bike just before riding.
