 just lowered my pikes 454 dual airs using this vid. Got my spacers from here;

All-Travel Spacer Kit (All 2010 forks)

Quick question.. in the beginning when you unscrew the bolt on top (where the u-turn knob is), what are you unscrewing? Do you have to remove the u-turn knob in order to get to this bolt? All I see on top of mine is the u-turn knob, which is round so it can't be unscrewed with a wrench.. Hope that made sense, thanks!
  • + 2
OK that was a dumb question, I see the C clamp now to get the u-turn knob off and the bolt underneath. And thanks for the video, much easier to understand than the Rock Shox manual..

haha the shadow when your pumping at 330.0

 ahahahahahahahahaha

if pike 454 is lowered to 80mm, the "air spring guild" table is the same like when pike was 140mm? or I need to pump more than 150psi??
  • + 1
its the exact same because its not a spring fork, you do not compress anything while dropping it, in fact, you can get as low as you want thus as smooth
  • + 1
did u lower them 2 80's? cause im thinking about buying some for my dmr 898 and was wondering if if was gonna be hard to lower them. thanks Smile
  • + 1
i did, but you can actually lower it to the lenght you want...
  • + 1
Fread, if I take my pike u-turn model, with 140-95 mm travel u-turn and lower them to...let's say 80 mm, will it now be 80mm to 125 travel adjust?
  • + 2
i don't know for the coil but for the air, yes...

my friend has a pike team ( a very old pike ) and to drop its pike we only had to screw a bolt, wich was the uturn... because he couldn't reach less than 95mm because the spring of the fork was tight at this place (farm4.static.flickr.com/3281/2902236303_fc71393fdd.jpg) so after lowering his fork, he could lower his fork to infinite, but max is 95mm

hope it help'd you!
  • + 1
 ok, Thank you very much!
  • + 1
oh true! haha, i figured the new travel adjuster kit should work. have you heard about them?
  • + 1
nop i havent, do you have any info on it ?
  • + 2
what kind of spacer you need??
  • + 4
i dont know if you can use like a piece of a old handle bar, i didnt tried because i was afraid of using the internal si i used some hose seal like theses

the principle is to get the piston further from the end of the cylinder ( nearer from the top of the fork if you prefer)
  • + 1
were can i get a couple of these spacers from? and at the end of the video you didnt pump up the bottom chamber? how come?
  • + 1
they actually are water hoses's seal, i dont know what kind of hardware shop youve got in australia, but it would be where there's garden tools for sale...

does anyone no how to lower a pike 409 the one with u turn and motion control?
  • + 1
 its the exact same
  • + 1
Wait, is there no oil in the u-turn leg? Also, do you think it would be the same process for the Argyle 409?
  • + 1
no there's no oil in mine... i lowered my friend's 409 and there is some, and yes its about the same process
  • + 1
Thanks for the reply, but I just finished it lol! There was only a small amount of oil in mine also, I was expecting it to flood out like in Marzocchi's but I guess there's enough oil for the suspension process in the Rockshox.
  • + 1
you maybe should do a how to, lot of people are asking for theses...
  • + 1
Oh, there's really no point! It's really simple in the Argyle, just have to pull the internals apart seeing as there's no cir clips... Let's just hope people see these comments to save you the hassle of being asked countless questions!
  • + 1
yeah man there should not be a lot of oil in the spring leg - it's just for lubrication. all the oil (different weight tho) is in the dampener (RS top right leg). so it you take the lowers off there's only lube oil in RS. with Marz it's different because most older ones use open bath dampener, which means that your springs actually sit in your dampener and the same oil is used for dampening and lube. that's why there's a tonn of oil when you take the lowers off.

yeah the search button is awesome )) i might get my friend's old Pike dual air for my DJ bike so i was looking for the info!
  • + 1
 you can unlower after right?
  • + 1
 yes, that is right
  • + 1
is it the same concept with a pike 409???any differences???
  • + 1
i dont know, is it air ? if so ; yes it is
  • + 1
yea they make the 454 in more then just the air model
  • + 1
or next time you could just buy the u-turn model...
  • + 2
nice try, its actually a 454 air u-turn... the lowest on these is 110mm, i dont like riding a chopper, i've lowered it to 80mm ...
  • + 1
Is it the same for the coil and the dual air versions?
  • + 1
nahh, the coil verson is really simpler, get me a picture of the internal ( everything, from the bottom bolt to the top bolt ) and send me a PM, ill explain you
  • + 1
Is it possible to lower a pike 409 coil uturn??
  • + 1
  • + 1
will the u turn still work fine??
  • + 1
 yes it will
  • + 1
oh ill get mine lowered to 70 then thanks
  • + 1
can you do this to a marzocchi 55r ¿¿¿¿???????
  • + 1
i've never tried, i can't tell, and i dont own any marzo.... but i guess its the same for almost all marzo fork Wink
  • + 1
so mabe a weird question but can you also raise a fork??
  • + 1
yeah, but the max will still be 140mm
  • + 1
 ok thx.
  • + 1
Do you know how I lower my pike 454 coil? thnx
  • + 0
ahh a get ya. a thought they were 90 mm to 140 u turn and if u wanted less thn 90 u need to lower them. i get ya now Big Grin
  • + 0
rockshox are the best to repair and disassembly did mi lyrik and its as essez as they come good to see the how too thx
  • + 1
 merci beaucoup man! ;-)
  • + 0
so do you only do that in one side and leave the u-turn side as it is ???
  • + 1
 the compression side *

yes you do...
i did step one to final step in that video
  • + 0
so you dont have to touch the uturn side at all....
  • + 1
theCOMPRESSION SIDE you have to do all that into the uturn side...
  • + 1
so you only do that to one side yes or no ??? i have dj1 07 and had to do both sides but with dj1 08 only one side is done
  • + 1
you do it only on the U-turn side...
  • + 1
 ah righty cheers
  • + 1
most RS have a dampener in the right leg and a spring/air in the left.
as far as i know some Zocchis (JR Ts, Super Ts and DJs) they have springs in two legs (sometimes with air preload) and open bath dampener in both legs. but i think post 08 Marz had some changes...
but to lower a fork with one side spring you only need to mess with the spring or air side!

cheers!!
  • + 1
 thanks:P
  • - 1
if its a u turn forks cnt u just u tht to make thm smaller?? or is it smaller thn 90mm??
  • + 1
 what ?.....

i'll answer the question i understood; the pike 454 air is 110mm, so you can't get lower than that if you dont drop your travel
  • + 1
u can lower pike 454 airs by pumping lots of air into the bottum valve then a bit into the top and it lowers rhem
  • + 1
i know, but when you pull the handle bar while you have your feet on the wheel, you can make it stock again, that's what i dont want to...

so i can lower a pike 454 air by addings spacers Wink
  • - 1
nice job could i do that with rock shox toras
  • + 1
i dunno, maybe if its the same internal
  • - 2
can u do bomers as well
  • + 1
no, sorry, never tried with them
  • - 2
why the hell are you useing a mexican wrence, get a real one
  • + 2
 adjustable spanners are very useful......
