@ t3rr1: what is a clevasse?
sorry guy invading your thread

the bottom of the shock doesn't attach directly to the frame on the coiler - there is a little triangular bit that is in between the two - called a clevasse. Kona sent my frame out with the wrong size- which dissalllowed me to run 2.5 tires without them hitting the seat tube - but if run 2.35 tires - you have a low slung bike. Kona than sent the right clevasse that allows you to run the 2.5's but also causes a higher bottom bracket.
ah i see. i didnt know that the tyre widths changed the geo so much!

Sorry - it's the clevasse. Small clevass = you can only run small tires - it's the clevass that affects the geo. The larger Clevass you can ruin either size of tires - but the bb is higher.

I have a Giant Cypher... i figured i'd love xc riding.. but then realized i really had a thing for DH more... so we swapped out the front shocks, the handlebars, and rims and tires. Also thinking about getting some better brakes.... I just heart the Cypher because it's so light and easy to handle.. i'm still a really really beginner biker! I'm stoked to get it on the trails as soon as I get over my injury!

Yikes...sorry to hear that. What happened? Did you break a limb?

Yeah thanks.. it sucks but sometimes I think things happen for a reason.. I ended up with a fractured patella, fracturing the base of my femur and I tore a ligament..surgery 7 weeks ago and still can't put all my weight on it. It's coming though. Can't wait to get back on my bike! the stationary one just doesn't cut it!

UGH...That's horrible!!! All that from ice skating...crazy! So how long before you are allowed to transition from stationary bike to the real thing? Are there any long term issues you will need to deal with...like scarring or arthritis?

see the specialist on Wednesday so i'll have a better idea on when I can bike...fingers crossed!! Getting a bike trainer set up tonight so at least I can pedal MY bike! I have a kick ass scar (Is it wrong to be proud of it?? haha) and I will have arthritis and a possible stiff knee... but we're working on it at physio. Also, I gave away my ice skates, no more of that!!!

Yeah, I like my scars too...I don't think that there's anything wrong with that either Smile
I hope you heal up fast. Being hurt and unable to ride isn't fun at all.

As for the skates...I got a pair last winter and gave it a go for the first time since I was a little kid. I sucked at it and it doesn't come back to you like riding a bike. I ended up falling and hitting my head. Haven't been out since. Stupid ice skates!
